If they don't have one set taking place on the rooftop, all the developers should have to give their pay back.

I imagine that'll happen. Probably also a sure thing that they'll do something with Yellow Submarine-style animation.

I can't be the only one that was really hoping for this...

Any word yet if the songs an be extracted to the HD for play with RB/RB2, or if they'll only be playable with the Beatles RB disc?

Not trying to be snarky, but does anyone really play these games for the animation or graphics?

I think from everything harmonix has stated, this is likely going to be a game universe to itself. Including its own amount of downloadable content. Meaning little to no crossover between rock band 1/2 tracks and the beatles game.

while i completely understand this from a business pov, I hate it from a gamer's pov.

I doubt it, but they do add some zip, and make the experience feel less sterile than the charts alone would. Personally, I love watching the band jump in the air and land together at the beginning of "Rock n Roll Star."

Plus, of course, it's easy to get excited at any sample of any kind from an upcoming game/movie/etc. that you're anticipating.

Well, Mr. Parker, I can tell you that - as the Rock Band games are "party games" - there's always a group of people "watching the performance" so to speak - and that does sometimes factor into the overall experience.

But with the notion that the band in question had - for at least a part of their lifespan - a commitment to the visual...there's probably the added impetus to capitalize on some of the famous films and animation...

At the very least, there are opportunities to recreate interesting moments in pop-culture history - and perhaps make them interactive in some new way (which I believe was something the developers mentioned in their original press release).

Hm. Other people have said similar things. I really need to refresh my browser more...

no crossover whatsoever. thats one of the terms of the contract.

That's too bad. It means I'll play it through, then probably put it away since I've got so many RB & RB2 songs on my HD already. Kinda short-sighted, too- they could charge you for the song extraction, like they did with the Rock Band songs for RB2. Oh well.

But then people would just rent the game, pay to extract the songs, and essentially have the game without ever paying for it. That's what happened with Rock Band when the second one came out.

Or they could do like the AC/DC pack, and make it a one-time transfer code. If you want to export, then you're pretty much forced to buy the game new.

Is that true? I thought it was a disc-specific key. Or was that the key on the RB2 disc? It's been awhile.

That's what I meant. Buy the game, then pay for a transfer.

My understanding is that if there's no export it's an Apple Corp decision.

It may be that it's simply too advanced for backwards-compatibility with RB/RB2. I read (on Wikipedia) that there you'll be able to connect 3 microphones so everyone can sing harmonies, so I guess they'd have to completely revamp the tracks to work with the prior versions.

Given how Beatles stuff is usually sold, I'm sure in two years they'll realize there's more money to be made and we'll be able to pay to unlock it. Huzzah!
