Anybody from the area? Headed that way to run the Derby Marathon* this weekend. Anything I need to check out while I'm there? Is any one distillery tour better than another?

*Full disclosure: I'm running the half-marathon.

What's up.

Yeah, I'm from Louisville. David O. has got family around here too. He's the closest I ever came to meeting a Chewer.

Lived there as a kid, loved it. That's all I got.

If you like sad malls, walk into University Mall on Bardstown and go to the library. And the parks. The parks were designed by the Central Park architect and are worthy of their reputation. There's a big one in the center of the town, just go to that. I'd also recommend the jambayala place on Bardstown, I forget its name. It's probably closed down and it costs too much, but if you want to eat alone, it's the place. There's an original version somewhere. Nachbar is not a bad bar.

University Mall doesn't really exist anymore.

Mid-City Mall isn't so much a mall, as it is Baxter Avenue Theaters and the Comedy Caravan.

The parks are almost all linked now. King Jerry had the idea to improved upon Olmstead's original park system design. Now, it just pushes way more bicyclers into the path of my car.

I can't think of the Jambayala place, but it was near Wild N Wooly Video.

I meant Mid-City. Sorry. I'm confusing the past. When I was there, it had a bank, a shoe store, and I think the sign said there was a detective agency downstairs.

The jambalaya place is, after googling, J. Gumbo's.

J. Gumbo's is a chain now.

The detective agency moved. It's now a block down from the Scientology Center.

So, Louisville has a park and a chain gumbo place. Good times ahead!

Well, there's other things.

Bring an umbrella.
If you can help it, don't go to Portland.

What area are you staying in, so I can tell you what's around there.
