Most disturbing scenes ever

Thread Starter
the one scene that realy unsettled me was the hospital scene from Jacob's Ladder. With the limbs and blood all over the floor, and the doctor with no eyes and a big needle! The movie as a whole didn't do much for me, but that part was great. "Yeah, go on and try ya bald fuck and i'll knock you through the wall. FUCK!"
Non-horror. "Scarface." Chainsaw in the shower. 'Nuff said.

Another non-horror. "Marathon Man" "Is it safe?"

Two pop into my head right off the bat...
The ungodly ear slicing from Resevoir Dogs, and the last murder scene from HBO's movie Citizen X (why the hell is Thomas DeMunn not more well known after that performance?).

Oh man that ear cutting scene in Dogs really screws me up everytime even though I'm a gore hound. I don't know if it's the music or what.

It might be cuz you don't see it. But the imagination is a powerful thing. Plus, there's the screaming.

I almost posted my list of most disgusting scenes, but that's not the same as most disturbing, right? And that's different from scary, too.

Going back to Tarantino, I remember squirming in my seat (along with the rest of the theater) when John Travolta was about to give Uma Thurman the adrenaline shot in Pulp Fiction. It was a joyful kind of disturbing, though.

I just caught some of Gridlock'd on cable the other night. There's a scene where Tim Roth and Tupac decide they want to spend the night in the hospital (I don't know why). Roth's arm is already injured, but Tupac needs an injury. Tupac wants Roth to stab him, and they have a hilarious discussion on what would be the best place to stick the knife. It goes on and on, right through several stab attempts. Black humor and very squirm-inducing.

But neither of those are horror movies.

I'll be back when I think of some more. Maybe something from a Cronenberg film...

The rape scene in I Spit On Your Grave. Been a while since I've seen it, but I remember thinking that it looked way too realistic for my comfort.

In Requiem For a Dream, the triple threat of the montage towards the end. Connelly's character being degraded to the chants of dozens of men with flashlights... and liking it. Leto's arm being sawed off. His mom getting shock treatment while screaming through a gag. I mean, first time I saw that.. jesus.. I was drained of life for a good hour afterwards.

definitly Scarface. The look on that guys face as he realizes his head is about to be sawed in half has stuck with me for YEARS. I know a couple people who have gone out like that, Not with a chainsaw but tortured to death. When I used to do a lot of meth about 10 years ago I was around some pretty sick people. One was a dear friend of my wifes who was beaten to death and robbed in her house cause her husband owed them a lot of money, and a brother and sister that were tourtured to death because their dad owed about two hundered thousand dollars to some very bad people. I actually hunted down the father with a friend and beat him within an inch of his life. he was a fucking scumbag, he knowingly let his kids die. That fucking horror. I think that maybe thats why nothing scares me anymore. Sorry for rambling
post #9 of 62
Not very original but, the sound of the saw on the bone in AUDITION is very disturbing.
The first Russian Roulette scene in THE DEER HUNTER has always been a tough one to watch ...

The scene in BATTLE ROYALE where the students are learning about the game ...

And the "home movie" in Michael Powell's PEEPING TOM is very disturbing, made more so by the fact that Powell himself plays the sadistic father and casts his real life son in the role of the tortured son ...

... and also, the first kill in Argento's OPERA in which we first see the use of the eye needles ...

Rounding things out will be one of my favorite endings: A glimpse of Mike standing in the corner, and then the camera falling to the ground ... Great ending to THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT

Michael Jackson plus kids in Moonwalker.
No-one specified it HAD to be horror did they?

Odd, that.

Audition when she "feeds" her "pet".

Jackass the movie's Urine snow cone! (GAG!!!)

Faces of Death when the guy stabs the nurse in the throat!
It's a cliche now, but the curb-bite in American History X.
I really hate needles so the end of Audition.

The end of Requiem for a Dream when it is going through the three diferent people also.

The little kid on the bike in In the Mouth of Madness.
In no real order.

*Lots of maggots and a strait razor in HellRaiser II.

*The knife in the hearth scene in "Saving Private Ryan".

*Screwdriver and Zombie scene in Dawn.

*The Sledge hammer and the little piggies in "Payback".

*Braveheart end when they remove his intestine.

Huh...Cheers!
The end of Blair Witch Project.

The dinner of TCM.

The dinner of Hannibal.

The opening of Saving Private Ryan.

Apocalypse now. Whole movie.

Hell scenes of Event Horizon.

the couple scenes in Ichi the Killer where the women are beaten up. One of them gets her nipple sliced off and then she's kicked to death.
Yeah, thats pretty hard to watch.
These are things that disturb me personally.. And probably didn't make anyone else flinch.

The face peeling in Poltergeist.. And the woman trapped in the Pool of Corpses.

Stupid as it may sound, the kid getting his head sawed in half by Leatherface in his car, from the beginning of TMC2. It just wigs me out.

I haven't watched it in well over ten years, but I vaguely remember a guy in a coffin (or box?) in Arachnophobia. That bothered the hell out of me.. The spiders, not so much.

Marge's crispy corpse sinking into the bed in A Nightmare on Elm Street was pretty high on the freaky scale, too.

Having a fear of spiders, I seem to remember this scene in SERPENT AND THE RAINBOW ... Haven't had the "pleasure" of ARACHNOPHOBIA, and I can't say I will anytime soon

Ned Beatty squealing in Deliverance.

The box (or coffin) fellow in Arachnophobia was very dead.. Which is why it gave me the wiggies. Likely wouldn't make me flinch, now. The guy in the coffin in Serpent and the Rainbow was pretty disturbing, too.
Lurking fear I think is the name of the movie... It was one of those soft-core "skinemax" movies this girl kills her husband and his lover. the next scene is her sitting on the floor in the kitchen with this big ole' carving knife taping the floor with it
post #24 of 62
the last ten minuites of "audition" where the chick does some pretty horrible things to the middle aged guy. I can't get the sound of the noise she makes out of my head "kiri kiri kiri kiri" and she does this when she drives the needles in deeper and then what she does afterwards with the wire."this cuts both meat and bone"....
Please don't ask me to explain this, but "Pet Sematary" REALLY freaked me out. I watched it pretty young, and TO THIS DAY am unable to read the book. It's the only one of all 20 King books I own that I can't read. There's just something about 3 year old zombie kids with big knives... "Daddy... I just played with Mommy, and now I want to play with yooouuuu."
The Coffin Joe films. I can not even select particular scenes, all of them have a disturbingly bizarre quality.
Coffin Joe? Whassat? It reminds me of a series of weird-ass Brazilian movies starring "Ze Do Caixao". Are those the same? If so, they were AWESOME.

Disturbing scene: the dinner with the aliens scene in "Bad Taste"
I think the director/star goes by both Ze Do Caixao & José Mojica Marins(I know him by the latter but I am fairly certain you were refering to the same films)I agree, they were awesome films.
I would have to agree with the Pet Semetary one but the scene with the sister running up to the camera in her room.
Also the following...

The entire guinea Pig Series , Mike in the Corner in BWP., Exorcist 3 Hallway scene. Gut vomitting from Gates of Hell, Eyeball splinter from Zombie, Plane crash in Final Destination(almost as disturbing as the one in Alive), the Hooked Fried man from Ichi the Killer, just off of the top of my head...

Not sure about a movie scene that disturbed me but the spider walk scene in the Exorcist novel scared the bejesus out of me the first time I read it. Looked over my shoulder for days to make sure she wasn't behind me.
One thing about the Guinea Pig series. I saw one of them (flower of flesh and blood I think) described as Crazy Samurai Ties Girl Up In Bed And Mutilates Her.

I *seem* to remember seeing that scene once before. Was it in 8mm? The "isn't she the same girl?" scene? Or am I totally off the mark?
The dumping of the pigs blood on Carrie White's head.. It's just the sheer maliciousness of it that does me in every time... I remember not being able to sleep after I first saw the film. I wasn't scared, I was just haunted by that image..
Disturbing = Pet Semetary. And for good reason, when I was 6 Buhdda (my dog) died, my brother (3 at the time) and I were upset needless to say. Inconsolable is a better way to describe it. So, Mom, wanted to do the right thing, takes us to the Library to find something on dealing with the death of an animal. (I think you see where this is going...) The kindly librian was just trying to help when she looked through the computer to find an appropriate video...how she missed the tape being in the sci/fi - horror section is a mystery to me.

Good 'ol mom plops us in front of the TV and promptly leaves so the TV can teach us how to cope with the loss of our beloved pet.

An hour & a half later we are traumatized beyond belief and decide the best course of action is to say nothing to our parents & rectify the situation out selves.

Later that night, after midnight I think...there stands a 6 year old in the backyard, feety he-man pajamas & and all w/ a shovel, digging up his ex-pet, behind him is a 3 year old with a plastic baseball bat ready to begin beating the evil hell spawn on sight.

We get down to him, wrapped in a plastic bag - a sudden gust of wind rustles the bag, PANIC INSUES. My brother drops the bat and runs SCREAMING for the house (with me in hot pursuit).

We barracaded ourselves in the closet where we were found the next morning. Now I love horror movies and for the longest time I'd laugh whenever I saw roadkill, which always creeped out my mother (because she feels responsible).
Oh, god, I hate how something so sad and traumatizing can be so...

SO...

fucking funny
Surprised no one has mentioned the gut-barfing scene from Fulci's Gates of Hell. Yeah, that moment rubbed me the wrong way when I watched it. Maybe it's because I devouring ice cream at the time.

That was an endless waterfall of guts that came out of that girl's mouth. Blech.

One that's always stuck with me is when Henry and Ottis act like they have car trouble and shoot the guy who stops to help in "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer."

The nipple slice in "New York Ripper" is another rough one.
Don't forget Burial Ground. The tit munching scene.

The most disturbing scene ever?.....The Exorcist...

[Regan, possessed, is masturbating herself with a crucifix.]

Regan MacNeil: "Let Jesus fuck you, let Jesus fuck you! Let him fuck you!"

....um...yeah....'Nuff said....
the first two death in Jaws just make not want to go swimming in the surf.

also the shower scene in Psycho
Back to the Exorcist, it really disturbs me when the mother is coming home, and slowly walking up to Regan's room, and for split seconds, demonic faces flash on parts of the screen. Once on the stove, and another on Regan's door before the mother opens it and enters. Even worse is when she leaves, and the image of Pazuzu the demon appears on the dark wall.

Once again... I have to say Lilja 4-Ever... there are a few scenes at the end that just makes me cringe... Nothing gory, but still really unsettling...

I can never listen to Rammstein in the same way again for starters... and actually... ever since I saw the movie I haven't played any of my Rammstein albums.

I just remembered!

Naked Killer!

A female assassin kills a guy and the next day the police are there at the scene. They cannot find his dismembered penis which is actually hanging up on a curtain rod where it landed when she hacked him.
For some odd reason the detective in charge is eating a big ole plate of breakfast at the crime scene complete with a sausage.
Of course the penis falls on the plate and we see him full-on eating the penis as he's talking to another cop! At one point he says "What? You think I ate the penis?" when they still cannot find it. The other detective gags at the thought not knowing his partner is chewing on a dong.

That's the worse.
This scene is why that DVD went into the little circular file I have.

*Insert any eyeball popping, stabbing, gouging or skewering scene in any film ever made here*

I can watch damn near anything, but I can't handle anything that involves eyes. The two worst from this category (for me anyways) has to be The Beyond and Evil Dead Trap.

Never saw Evil Dead Trap but I heard the eyeball scene has people wondering "how did they do that?".
It looks very realistic. I don't know how the hell they did it either.

The Tree Rape in 'Evil Dead'

Stabbing in 'Saving Private Ryan'

The opening in 'Jaws'

Various scenes from 'Salo'

It doesn't look like CGI...plus I don't think the movie had that kind of budget. *shudders* I don't know...and I don't really want to know either.
