I was playing the demo - and I'm rusty. How do you get your team to do all their specials at the same time?
Both character assist buttons at the same time, once you have at least three levels of Super bars to blow.

HOLY SHIT.

The summer re-release of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 features the same wacky jazz as the original game, but Capcom revealed to Kotaku today plans for a star-studded free bonus soundtrack players can fight to instead.

Given that not everyone thinks that a battle between Wolverine and M.Bison should be set to jazz, Capcom will offer a downloadable hip-hop mixtape themed to Marvel Vs. Capcom 2. The mixtape will be offered digitally close to the pending summer re-release of the game on Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation 3's PlayStation Network, according to Capcom.

Forget the jazz. Might you like to beat up Marvel's roster to some hip-hop instead?

Artists features on the game's "mixtape" include the following rap greats, who, we're told, are providing original songs inspired by MvsC2 and other fighting games and fighting game themes:

- Raekwon
- Talib Kweli
- E40
- DJ Qbert
- Hieroglyphics
- The Grouch and Eligh of Living Legends
- Planet Asia
- MC Supernatural
- Havoc of Mobb Deep
- DJ Toure
- And more...

The soundtrack will be issued for free on Marvel.com, Capcom-Unity.com, and the game's promo site tu4ar.com. Capcom is also exploring options for issuing the music downloadable directly to consoles, but has no plans to announce yet.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 is a faithful port of the 2000 original, though the new version will support a stretched-background widescreen mode, some optional graphical smoothing and custom soundtracks. All the content that shipped with the original will be in the new release.
I'm not sure how well Talib Kweli and Servbot go together, but this the most unexpectedly awesome news to come out of this release yet.

Well, just a month late.

PS3 version delayed to August 13th for ($15)

Luckily I invested in a 360 instead so this will be mine on Wednesday. It's been too long since I played this on my old dreamcast.
Yessir. Wednesday it is.
This is a loooooong 24 hours.
Well it's arrived for anyone up late, you just have to go to browse all and it's there. Since Vancouver's being roasted and my fan is failing me, I'll be kicking about, unlocking characters in single player mode. I can't even remember what my usual three consisted of, but undoubtedly one was Megaman.

Edit: Huh, all the characters are unlocked already.
You beat me to it, Darth. Downloading this right now.
The size of the game is a little under 200 MB. Not that big of a download.
Got it.

Like riding a bicycle. Feel free to send me an invite if I'm around.
More like falling off of a bicycle in the middle of a road and being creamed by a semi. Lots of rust needs to be shaken off. Still it is a glorious game to behold and I am glad to have it back.
To be fair, I used to be an absolute terror with Marrow. Dont know where those skills went but I've been getting absolutely bitchslapped using her.
Is it me or is the CPU ruthless?
Can I officially state for the record that Capcom sucks with achievements? The vast majority are multiplayer based, and the ones that arent are vague as hell. Apparently, to get the team achievements, you cant use a continue, but they dont tell you that, and I just beat the game with Chun Li, Cammy, and Sakura, without losing, and got zilch.

It's not the aggressive malignant Fuck You the Mega Man 9 achievements were, but it is a good solid Just Don't Give A Fuck.
Well, if I'm going to get my ass handed to me, it might as well be by someone on my friends list.

Capcom has always had stuff for the hardcore crowd but like you mentioned with the achievements but this shit is nuts.
Wow - this is like meeting a good friend that you haven't seen in about a decade. Like most people here, I am rusty as hell. Only got a few games in before work, but it's slowly starting to come back to me...

And yes, the achievements for MvC2 are crap. God, this game is fun.
Finally getting my fingers and mind in-tune with this game. Ended up getting the Achievements for clearing it with a team of X-Men and a team of Avengers. I'm going to try for the Dark Stalkers one tonight and then get my ass handed to me online. I'll eventually go for the Street Fighter one but most of the roster is weak.

I don't mind weak characters, hell, I use mostly the weaker ones as I find them more fun but for clearing the game without continuing, weak isn't going to cut it. I also find the horrible game balance somewhat refreshing overall. It's almost like Capcom is saying "fuck you, win or go home." I'm sure once I go XBL with it I'll be cussing the balance up and down.
Got the Darkstalkers achievement last night.

And the "Avoid Player" button has NEVER been so useful and cathartic than it is here. Pull any infinite combo bullshittery with Magneto or Storm, my neg rep is swift.

Mother FUCK. Sounds even worse than SFIV. I'll hit you up the next time we are online the same time...
Y'all have inspired me to spin up my PS2 copy. I hate fighting Omega Red!
I got it last night, did a couple fights and went to bed. This is going to be one long ass day at the office.

Fuck, I haven't been on the boards the past couple of weeks cause I just split with my girl. Finally got my internet up today. First thing I wanted to do was purchase this for my PS3. Fuck.

***Man, being 27 and having to move back in with my mom is one of hardest things I've ever had to do. I love my mom to death, but it just feels weird.***
post #78 of 82
I am so bad at this game it's silly. How does anyone play these games without an arcade stick? It's been years since my X-Men vs. Street Fighter days, but the rust is slowly coming off; still, with the POS 360 controller I can barely pull off any of the more complicated moves (and I cannot get Chun-Li to execute a lightning kick--I can't imagine tapping that stupid button any faster). I was never good at controlling fighters with a console controller.

Special thanks to Justin for raping every orifice in my body and pissing on the corpse. We had about 15 matches and *maybe* three were even remotely competitive. First case of major game rage i've had in a long time. Better him than some nine year old spam punk though and fun was had.
Hey, sorry to the person that sent me an invite the other day. I was at the very end of Arcade Mode, fighting Abyss. Beat the game and got the Avengers achievement.

I am surprised as to how smooth the online for this is.
Did they up the difficulty a ton for this? I was never great but I used to be able to blow through arcade mode relatively easily, but since buying this yesterday I've only been able to beat it once and it took an hour to do it.
Might've been for certain characters. Strider Hiryu used to be a punching bag on Dreamcast. He's giving me no end of trouble now.

And much obliged, Dr. Strange. Thats the beauty of this game. With the right players, win or lose, its still a blast. I've gotten my ass handed to me by honest players this past week and laughed my ass off at the end of every one.
