Full video is HERE

I'm taking this Swine Flu epidemic a lot more seriously now.

"We cannot build our economy on a foundation of Sand" + YES

Obama is clearly as frustrated by the Retarded Republican party as many members of this board

The man continues to impress

Our Press are either completely fucked up or Obama's staff is deliberately choosing the bottom of the barrel (or the cream of the Retard crop)

I liked the question on enchanted, humbled, troubled, etc. His answer was refreshingly candid and unrehearsed. Also thought he got as close as he could to answering the torture/prosecutions question.

Leave it to Biden to lose his cool and panic over the flu after Obama's measured message.

Biden is a hero in my family today. My niece was in D.C. on a 5th grade field trip. Biden saw the group, stopped his limo, got out and shook hands with all the kids, with secret service standing by. His advice to the boys was "be nice to your sisters" and to the girls "don't get married before you're thirty." lol <3

I'm surprised. After his interview this morning I thought he was in seclusion and following a strict no hand shacking policy. Maybe Obama told him to be nice to your niece to make up for it :-)

Oh hey, I must have missed this. My Fox affiliate was running some sweet Married With Children reruns instead.

Did they show the one where the aliens need Al's socks to fuel their spaceship? Christ that was grand.

The questions are improving, no doubt.

There was one odd note in Obama's response to the question above. When he talked about his experience with the Military there was almost a subtext of disdain in his answer, even as he praised them.

How so? To me, it sounded like reverence. In fact, he could probably have used that as his "humbled" answer rather than "enchanted." From what I hear, his experiences with military men and women have had a profound impact on him.

Maybe I mid-read his attitude..when he began on this topic he said "well, 'Enchanted' is not the word I would use"...maybe he meant "humbled' given the rest of his answer....

I was surprised at the directness of his answer to the torture question. I just wish he'd pointed out that torture has not been proven to provide real intelligence. You half drown anyone enough and they are likely to admit/confess to anything

It sucks to be a WH press secretary;

Yeah, I just rewatched that part. I think he wanted to talk about the military but "enchanted" wasn't the right word and he probably second-guessed his use of it that it may make him seem weak or a sissy? I don't know. I thought his answer though was really great.

Very true. But I think Obama treads a very fine line on this issue because even though he's so mild on torture and "wanting to look forward," he's already being attacked for "political witch hunts" by the right. This is ultimately a justice dept. issue, and it's an independent body, so I think he got as close to a good answer as he could. And in terms of calling out the fact that torture is a perfect tool for false confessions, you know that Cheney's memos and a million Limbaugh/Beck/Hannity/O'Reilly talking points in support of it are just waiting for him to say something they can pounce on, to create another few weaks of smoke and mirrors, further confusing and riling the public.

I agree. However that reporter was trying to get Obama to confirm or deny that he'd be Ok with an international body prosecuting former Administration officials. Obama obviously does not want to go there.

I wanted to be more pissed at him for the torture issue, state secrets case, and the bank bailout but his answers were pretty good (and he wasn't asked about the bank stuff.) So all in all, it was a net positive.

On the torture issue, he's being forced to correct the record on it's efficacy. Those methods might have worked in a couple of cases out of hundreds or thousands, but that doesn't excuse all the times it actively led to false information or turned more people against us or just did not produce any intel, so he basically beat back the Cheney defense as quickly as he could, then pivoted to the "it hasn't made us any safer" which is the stronger offensive argument to take, politically. It was interesting that he called it a mistake, not a crime, but that could just be due deference to his Attorney General.

I don't think you'll ever see a US President subject his predecessor or his administration to war crimes prosecution. Not least because at some point Obama will have things down that could be considered wars crimes by someone (like Iran)
