Open Source role playing games?

I listen to a podcast called Have Games, Will Travel, and the author talks about a lot of different games you can snag for absolutely free under the Creative Commons licensing scheme or the open source d20. I found a few good websites where you can learn about some of these games:

http://wiki.rpg.net/index.php/Major_Projects
http://www.tenthousandworlds.org/
http://www.rpg-awards.com (you have to drill into the site to find some of the games, but there are TONS here I never heard of before)

Do any of you still do pen-and-paper RPGs, and if so, have you taken any of these out for a test drive?

One that you may enjoy if you liked Battle Royale:

The old West End Games d6 system -- the one they used for their Star Wars RPG -- is supposed to be coming out as an open source system as well.

ooooo, that sounds pretty cool! So many systems have borrowed elements from the d6 WEG Star Wars games it's not even funny (Shadowrun in particular, I am looking at you!) I think it would be very fun to put some time into developing a new game using that system for sure.

You ever try out any of these other new-fangled free games?

No, my group always played purchased stuff. I have PDFs of a couple of free games -- mostly d20 variants from the 3rd Edition days when WOTC was a lot less anal about the OGL -- but we could barely get together to play the mainstream games, so they're collecting virtual dust on my hard drive.
