Come on, give us the original version. I demand my hoverboards in 2020 Manhattan!
It's like my childhood's coming back to play with me this week and I just can't resist them.

God, I should go get drunk for no reason and then bang a hooker. That'll get the maturity back in me...

Looks fun, though. We have the original 4 player arcade game at home on the XBOX and it's a great way to spend a hungover Sunday morning/afternoon with your friends.

Now if they'd only remake The Simpsons arcade game...
It amazes me how many times I died in the original version on Live. If I played it in the arcades, I would have needed a mortgage to beat it.

The only real good Simpson's game. Fuckin' A, my friend.

Yes. I really do hope they're going off the SNES port.

Slightly off-topic, but Jesus, what happened to Konami? That company was responsible for so much awesomeness up till the PS2 stole their soul, or something.

Funny how the original looks far more lively than the 3D remake. Funny, and completely as expected.

The only talent they seem interested in having is Kojima, everything else is just DDR and Winning Eleven games. Someone should do an editorial that compares and contrasts Konami and Capcom. If you saw the silver or purple framing on that NES cartridge box, you pretty much knew you were in for a good time. Nowadays Konami is the polar opposite of that reputation while Capcom is currently as close as they've ever been in replicating it.

They've still got Castlevania going for them, at the very least.

I was pretty disappointed by Konami's decision to drop Six Days in Fallujah. Capcom seems to be doing pretty well for themselves by embracing Western developers and games, and Konami could really stand to catch up in that department.

Why not just do that all the time? I know I do.

Anyways. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for TMNT. It was all I cared about when I was a kid. So I can't fucking wait to get my hands on this. Looks great.
Why not just update TMNT II with HD graphics instead of that rather clunky looking 3D stuff? I just played the SNES port and it's amazing how close it is to the arcade version (but with some neat differences as mentioned above).

Please come to PS3, please...

I've gotta get a Live account.

edit: Oh, and Batman Returns is almost as good as TIT in terms of SNES beat-em-ups.

Still the last good Batman game ever made.

I loved Turtles in Time(SNES) though it really was too easy. You had to play it on the hardest setting to have the vaguest challenge. I always used the obscure moves just to be more stylish and have fun.

Given the popularity of God of War/Devil May Cry I'm surprised there aren't more good quality scrolling two player beat 'em ups these days.

Yeah, a friend and I played this on co-op recently and blew through it. I think I may prefer the second one to this, if only for nostalgia. I remember playing it with my older brother on NES. It came with a Pizza Hut coupon!

As long as they never port or remake the souless, evil and dream crushing spwan of hell that was that first TMNT game for the NES, im good....to this day, I have nightmares about damns and their electric seaweed and bomb countdowns.
That original TMNT game is an experiment in frustration. Thank god Nintendo Power had a walkthrough for that game....which didn't really help since that game was PURE FUCKING EVIL.

Although with TMNT we got the gloriously cheesy (but fun as hell) BATTLETOADS games.
On that original NES game, I think I got up to the giant Mouser. It was a mega frustrating game. It's funny what we used to put up with in video games. No one would stand for that these days.

The second NES game was much better, but still very repetative and not much fun.

It's on the Wii's Virtual Console. Yes, I downloaded, and no I still can't beat it.

It's one of those games that only the truly obsessive can beat. So unforgiving and frustrating. I still loved it as a kid, for some reason.

I wouldn't just kill- I would commit genocide for some sort of re-release/remake/sequel to that.
Isn't Battletoads a RARE property? You would have thought Microsoft would have been all over their back catalogue.

Disagree. Konami's Animated Series game on SNES was pretty awesome.

The graphics and animation on that game were beautiful.

I'm glad to hear that everyone else had problems getting far in the first TMNT game. I thought I sucked. I did... but at least it wasn't the only reason.

It is, but my guess the hold up has to do with Nintendo.

And the original TMNT sucked horrendously.
I remember asking my parents for the TMNT game for Christmas, meaning the arcade game, but was disturbed to find that it was the shit original game. I didn't complain, though, which surprises me considering I was somewhat of a little shit.

For those who hate the original game, watch this.

The first game was the only one you had use some strategy as each turtle had some different abilities. Had to use Game Genie to get to the end.

Still the most fun was on the 2nd and 4th game.

Did the Simpson's arcade game ever come to home consoles?

Not to my knowledge, no. Shame. I've played it on MAME emulators though. You know... the game becomes a little less fun when you don't have tons of quarters at stake. Hahaha.

It's funny how both the first TMNT and Battletoads games are completely unforgiving in their level of difficulty, yet Battletoads is still infinitely more enjoyable. I would chalk it up to the difficulty being intentional in Battletoads as opposed to poor programming and design as is the case with TMNT.

There was one port and that was on the PC. It was crap.
It wasn't crap. I still have that port actually. Wasn't bad for the time. And played pretty close to the arcade game.

I suppose, it just wasn't the same. It wasn't even that close.

It's amazing how much charm this game loses when using 3D graphics.

I'm inclined to agree, actually. Wasn't there a cel-shaded Turtles game a few years back? Just throwing a glossy, cartoony paint over the original sprites, SFII HD style would've been just fine by me.
This defiantly loses some of its nerd factor by updating to new graphics. But i dunno, it should still be great fun. As long as they keep the same sounds and foot clan being thrown at the screen It'll be alright with me.
Keep the ability to throw enemies into the camera or you lose my interest.

Agreed. Combine that with the fact I beat this in about 20 minutes the first time I played it and I'm definitely less excited for the release. I'd like to see the X-men arcade game or even the Sega Spider-Man game (the one with Hawkeye and...Black Cat, I think).
