Final Destination 2 DVD

Well before I go into this I would just like to say that 28 days later came to my theatre, i live in a small town and it was fucking incredible. Both the movie and the fact that it came to my shit town.

Anyway I got a hold of the Final Destination 2 DVD early on friday. First I have to say I heard alot of shit saying this movie didn't match up to the original and it was a far cry, just popcorn movie fun. Bullshit it was really good with a story line that was the same but yet pretty different then the original. One thing they did that I liked was they tied the original to the second one. So many movies like this fall prey to having the same villian and have it chase after new people(WISHMASTER SERIES). Yes that happens in this, but you also 2 returning cast members(Ali Larter, Tony Todd) and a little plot twist that I won't spoil that ties the second to the first even more. Then there are the kills. I have to say they are better than the first. They are much more elaborate and so damn creative. Not to mention very gory. The opening scene of the film impressed the hell out of me. Yes CGI was used in this flick but it wasn't used to an extreme. When they could they did things practically.

Now since this is an infinifilm DVD you get some nice features. Theres a cool lil commentary which was both fun and educational. They pointed out somethings I missed. For instance, when you see the scene with the microwave watch the magnets on the refridgerator. I hate when the commentary is dry, however I wish some of cast had been on the track. I mean most of them were unknown. What your telling me the guy from living single is getting alot of other rolls? I think not but still not a bad commentary. Then there are three trailers. One is of Final destination, the other is final destination 2 and the third is of a film that I think im going to see called highwaymen. Sort of like the hitcher, but kind of cripled, doesn't look bad and I liek the way they did the trailer, you'll know what I mean when you see it. Then there are a few short documentaries, nothing I was that impressed with.
Next comes the deleted scenes which, one of which was the extended version of Tony Todd's scene. They tacked about a minutes worth of diologue on and a quick second of gore. But honestly I think they should of left it in. Tony gives a cool lil performance. Last they have this cute lil thing called choosed your fate with tarot cards. You click the card and it either reveals a good or bad thign that is supposed to happen to you.

The disc is double sided with widescreen and you guessed it fullscreen on the other. Of course the transfer was good(a big studio flick that made alot of money, what you think it ws going to have alot of flaws?)and it had dolby 5.1 sound mix but its not a big deal to me considering I don't have surround sound. Anyway Im buying this disc, just thought I'd give you guys a heads up.

I just saw this at a theatre last week and I thought it was decent. The opening scene is great and the death scenes/gore throughout were all very cool. The plot, to me, while not very good wasn't really bad either, the same old thing as in the first but it kept me mildly interested in between watching people die grizzly deaths. The Infinifilm DVD's are pretty cool. Lots of facts.

Anyone see the bus gag reel on infinifilm?

Its in the scene where everyones discussing the first movies events. They edited the bus into some scenes of the film, and i thought it was funny.

I caught that, and a ton of other things when I saw it in the theatre. I might have to watch it again, because I can't seem to remember any of the other subliminal messages frown

heh, found my old post from January:

Anyone else catch the little pamphlet at the starting with the car keys on top and covering the 'T' in 'Trip', so that the pamphlet said "ROAD RIP", or the scene where the letter falls off the refrigerator, and the 3 remaining letters spell out "EYE" on the lottery winner's fridge? Or what about when the kid is getting the needle in his jaw at the dentist and you see glass being carried around on the crane? Also, the chick in the van (jaws of life scene) holds her head and looks at the PVC pipe a few minutes before getting impaled.

This is in response to what Pekinpah said about the disposal blades POV shot...if you watch the deleted scenes part of the disc you see that POV shot, I didn't get around to seeing this in theaters so I can't confirm that it was in that cut...

They really seem to have come a long way with the "exploding body" technology.

Well I just sat thru this..

I fucking LOVED it and it was so good that it made part 1 better for me. I wasn't expecting that much hardcore death going on, each kill excpet the ladder one was a SOLID kill. Standouts being the Airbag and the Log and my favorite was the glass. SQUISH!!!

Defintly one of the best "Horror" type films I have seen in a long while. Purely based on fun this movie is WAY up on my list of favorite "horror" films.

Chow, Throw a spoiler message on those comments. Some of the people reading about the FD2 DVD specs are going to be surprised that they are there. Thanks.

I'd like to know if this DVD is worth getting for the deleted scenes alone... I know someone mentioned an additional Tony Todd bit, but are there any new gory bits that weren't in the theatrical?
