Every now and then I read in a magazine that this and that director that I love has made a couple of short films prior to his first feature. Sometimes they screen at film-festivals but that is pretty much as good as it gets unless they end up as an extra on a DVD - which happens not nearly often enough. Short films like DIAS SIN LUZ or ALICIA from Jaume Balaguero, AFTERMATH (which will get a DVD release, thank god), the shorts from Darren Aronofsky, things like that. I think that short films, like short stories, are an severely underrated artform. More of that stuff should be made available to the general public ...
