Alright I just watched Ju-On: The Grudge. Excellent but i have some questions as to what happened in a few parts of the movie. And just so i have the history right there was

Ju-On - A TV movie

Ju-On 2 - A sequel to the TV movie

Ju-On: The Grudge - what i just watched, which is a remake of the two TV movies together.

Ju-On: The Grudge 2 - the Japanese sequel which either just came out or is about to come out in Japan

The Grudge - the in production American sequel starring Sarah Michelle Gellar

Now someone explain to me what happen here...

*****SPOLIERS****

*****Spoliers*****

and did i mention SPOLIERS!!!!!!

alright so i was fine until the scene where the 'orginal detective' goes inside the house after seeing the security video with cans o' gas to burn the house down and he sees his daughter (in the future???) because earlier that day she was a little girl drawing on the sidewalk. then after the one ghost offs(?) the two cops we go to the (future?) with his daughter...when she comes home from school they say on the TV that Riku?, the social worker girl from the beginning is dead....so...at the end when Riku is in the house with the ghost wife it means Riku survived all those years from when the detective daughter's was a small girl to when she was a teenager...but didn't appear to age. And did she die at the end, was the grudge lifted, and was with her playing peek-a-boo in the mirror and the ghost turning more normal...whew

END SPOLERS

END

END

that should get some discussion flowing through the corner!!!

Have the two theatrical version brought to me (didn't know) by friends coming from the Philippines.

Needless to say I am not watching these without people around with me...

Glad someone started this thread. Courtesy of a fellow fiend here on the boards I was able to watch all three Ju-on flicks (that's the two TV movies and the theatrical flick). Thoughts...

Ju-on: Scary as shit and perhaps the most effective, and my fave, of the trio. The visual and audio frights must be experienced in a dark room. I freaked. Seek this one out first and watch it!

Ju-on 2: Unfortunately, the first 30-minutes is literally a rehash of the first film "Friday the 13th"-style. I mean, same footage, EVERYTHING. However, about halfway in, the new story arc picks up and concludes. Some great scares but plot-wise feels like forced and rushed. Still wicked freaky though.

Ju-on: The Grudge: I thought this was disappointing. The frights feel pasteurized and, honestly, they border on explaining too much.

FYI, the 2nd theatrical Ju-On will be released on Japanese R2 DVD come 2/24/04. Though I suspect a cheaper HK and/or Korean R3 DVD to be released not too far after.

Great and encouraging article on the currently lensing Hollywood remake right here.
