I haven't seen his films, but I'm certainly intrigued now. I pretty much agree with his take on death, though I must admit I'm nowhere near the point he's reached, age or otherwise. And I've 'experienced' nothingness, I think.

And considering this concept of doing what you can in life, to achieve immortality in others' memories of your accomplishments (who are therefore wanting of your presence), life's purpose must be to encourage selfishness in others - because, as Toback states like other philosophers, selfishness is what we feel when somebody has accepted the end and we wish to dredge them up (or is that down?) to our level.
