Rick Ducommun's walk-on almost compensates for Wayans's performance.

Oh, and I saw Negron doing standup a few years back and pretty much his whole routine revolved around how short Willis is.

Perhaps, he's trying to get the receipt for that whole "Mr. Milo dick in a chicken" joke.

Watching this now, as it is in my Christmas-time rotation.

Question. When they are leaving the police station the first time, and walking in the parking garage, why the fuck are there so many cop cars' lights flashing?

"Shit, we're alive."
"Yeah.

Hooray."

Watched this the other night for the first time in years. Still extremely enjoyable with some classic lines. Willis totally makes the movie. I have to say though that Wayans' piss poor acting really took me out of the film a few times. Had he done better or had another actor played the part I really think this would have been a bigger hit. But all in all a really enjoyable movie that just screams "early 90s!" batshit insane action/comedy.

Quibble - as a huge football fan the early scenes showing all of the fans with umbrellas at the game drove me crazy. That screamed "I was written by someone with no real knowledge of football games" since you cannot do that at pro or even college games. Why fake like you're a real league with the great "Friday Night's a Great Night for Football" intro along with real announcers like Lundquist, Butkus and Swan and then ruin it with umbrellas. Rant over.

Yeah, that reminds me of a funny anecdote John Kruk told about working as an advisor on Tony Scott's 'The Fan'. Apparently Tony Scott wanted to cast some left-handed British actor as the Giants' shortstop. When Kruk saw him in uniform, he told Scott it was a bad idea. "You don't see left-handed shortstops in baseball," he told Scott. "Why not?" Scott asked. "I'm not sure," Kruk admitted.

Having read through this thread, I now realize that half of my brother's arsenal of one-liners comes from this film.

Thank you, Shane Black and Bruce Willis.

Judge, that probably wasn't a writing thing. It was probably coming from either the director, DP, or Production Designer.

Out of curiousity, but why not?

Anything that obstructs the view of others is prohibited. Occasionally some signs get past that (if the owner holds it up once or twice and not during plays), but in general umbrellas are prohibited at any NFL or NCAA football event in the US. That's why when you see games played in pouring rain the fans are either wearing ponchos, rain gear/jackets or they are utterly drenched and miserable. But that's why they sell booze at games.

Right.

I was going to say screenplays don't usually include that sort of visual detail unless it is important to the plot. In this case, the visual of a whole bunch of umbrellas in the rain was something that Tony Scott wanted to see on screen.

In an alternate universe, this was re-written to be Die Hard 3, was Directed by Richard Donner and released in 1992.
