Is anyone else signing up for this?

I'm supposed to join my friends in Houston for the Jun. 5th weekend.

We did this last year. Awesome, awesome fun. Hang around at the drop off for a bit; it's hilarious watching the film makers run screaming around, some of them with their lap tops rendering the film on the go. Hilarity.

I did it in Houston in 2007; the result of it can be seen here. It was a blast, one of those true "do you really wanna do this for a living" confirming events for me, and I'm excited that we're returning with even more people to do it again this year. This time, though, I'm in Austin, so I'm even more pumped to see how everyone's turns out!

Austin's got to be great for obvious reasons. My friends are in the visual effects business, and I'm still in college, so I'm just offering my enthusiasm, imagination, and physical body.

Hey, any tips? Driving time in the car and rendering seems to be our biggest issues. My friend got a hold of a Panasonic AG-HVX205A. I'm taking my Best Buy-bought MiniDV just in case the tech doesn't work and we need something to shoot with. He's also got a laptop and I've got the 250 GB external harddrive. I'm highly doubting we'll be able to use the hi-def mode, but he's a graphic artist so he can dream...

As a team, we've made a four minute film for a school project in one day, so I'm sure we're ready!

Tempted to sign up for the London gig, but i've got no portable rendering gear available to me this year. Need to find an appropriate crew.

How have I missed this before? They do it in Toronto, too. Might just sign up. Seriously though, am I the only Toronto reader who's active on this part of the boards?

Ive done the NZ version every year for the past 6 years. This years was 2 weeks, I'm waiting to see if we got through to our city final, should know in a few days. Once you get a good team dynamic going it's always a blast.

I wanted to do this last year, but the guy I would've worked with (the guy with the cameras) said the wife wouldn't have allowed it. Yeowch.

We not got any London chewers interested in this kind of thing then?

If you were in London, ONTARIO, I'd make the trek up. Unfortunately, I don't think I've racked up enough air miles to get me to your neck of the woods. I wonder how a film made by a bunch of Chewers would turn out...

Ya know...I did this two years in a row. I've got two great movies and some awards to show for it...but I think I'll skip it this year. I think the money and creative energy will be better spent doing some narrative projects at a normal production pace.

About 20 of us are doing this in MN next weekend. It may dissolve into an excuse to drink a shitload of beer by Saturday night, but we're gonna give it a go.

I'm thinking it would be the best film ever.

I've now learnt there are at least 2 Londons in the world too. Check those air miles though, i've got most of the kit
