Attaboy, Judas!
That's something to consider, for all you parents that is. Teach your kids how to deal with bullies, but also how to defend themselves. Martial arts are pretty good, as they're mostly defensive and teach kids discipline and confidence. Case in point: back in high school, I became friends with an exchange student from England named Scott (AD&D and Dr. Who fans, unite!). He looked nerdy (always dressed up for school - he stood out amongst a sea of jeans and t-shirts) and most kids thought of him as an easy mark, but that son-of-a-gun could fight like nobody's business (he got hassled by this one bully at our bus stop once. Once. Then he spun around and knocked four of the bully's front teeth out with one shot).
It's thanks to Scott and the shit he taught me that I learned how to defend and stand-up for myself. We lost touch after high school, but wherever he is, thanks, dude! England rules!
