Alright, well I was waiting for somebody else to post this, but nobody did. I am assuming Eight Legged Freaks came out today, being tossed back and forth from the trailers, the release date was at first the 17th of this month then the 19th. I believe it came out today, so who's going to see it? And if you alreay have what do you have to say about it?

There's two kinds of people in this world, cannibals and theifs; which one took my arm?

I've already have seen it twice. There is a discussion going on about it on the main sewer. I just got an email from one of the executive producers with quotes from the critics. It was 3 pages long and all positive. I know that not everyone is going to like it, but most have had a lot of fun. Just expect it to be fun and not so scary. It does have scary moments, but it is mostly full of silly humor.

My son and I had a blast! It was everything I had hoped for, and my son was in absolute rapture. We have been reenacting scenes and dialog all night! I hope as he grows up he remembers this as fondly as I do Gremlins.

That's what it's all about.

Might as well re-assert my love for the movie. Fun all around, everyone in the entire theater was laughing, and it was a packed house when I saw it on Monday.

I loved the tent following the old man, pure classic comedy stuff that just worked. I even like David Arquette for most of it!

Bill Johnson you are still my Hero, you’ve got to have the coolest job in the world

I loved it.

This flic packs in some serious fun. I think it is a great Homage to old creature feature of the 50's with the same sort of recipe B-movie we are used to.

It was just a great monster/creature pop-corn movie, I love it.

I loved the spiders, I loved the way they moved and specially loved the spider sound/voices. I hope I'm not they only one that heard voices??? I loved the chainsaw wielding Jason wink

Did I mention that I loved it, anyway buying the DVD as soon as it comes out

Cheers mate & a job well done!

I finally got to see ELF last night, and had a really great time. I thought it was an homage to the old big bug movies without being smug and "Scream"-ish with the pop culture winks and all that--just a fun flick all around.

That said, it started out a little slow for my tastes--took a little too long to get to the bugs, imo--but once they giant bugs attacked it was a roller coaster and didn't let up. The jumping spider/motocross chase scene has to be one of the best man v. beast sequences EVAR.

I also have to admit the "cartoon voices" of the jumpers kind of got on my nerves sometimes, but other times they were funny and effective. Doug E. Doug's paranoid rants were great, and even David Arquette managed not to be annoying. I also kind of dug the fact that there were no incidental heroes--once the spiders got you, that was it, nobody's coming back for your ass, sorry bud. > And the spiders, while funny, were also vicious and menacing.

The cat's face in the drywall was a bit over the top, but hey, it's a giant bug movie. It was fun, I liked it, thumbs up.

One thing though--the science geek in me has to say it--wouldn't the tarantula just be eating all the other spiders as well as the people? The spiders were like an organized army, when in nature they'd be eating each other as much as chasing the people.

I know, I should relax. Fun movie, go see it.

A book called "Biology of Science Fiction" Has a section dedicated to giant bug movies. Sadly its impossible to have the countryside roaming with maneating bugs because their lungs wouldn't be able to support thier very own wieght to draw a single breath. Therefore the Giant Bug would suffocate the very second it mutated to such a size. Thats aparently why Insects and Arachnids are kept at a relativly small size.

Hows that to burst everyones bubble?

You're forgetting the chemicals, man! THE CHEMICALS! Chemicals can make bugs do ANYTHING!

(There are some things man was not meant to know...)

Yeah, I hoped that it would have made a lot more money too. I really want Dean Devlin to do well, as well as the rest of the folks over at Electric Films. They are sort of like family to me and I wish them only the best. BTW, the script was much bloodier (from the storyboards). There was some stuff that would heve been cool to do, but alas, it was not to be. frown

Hey, it ain't over yet. There's still the rest of the world (we've got another month before it hits the UK), plus DVD and video sales. Movies like this tend to do best on home release anyway - that's where they build a cult audience.

It'll turn a healthy profit, I'm sure of that.

Notice the tongue-in-cheek tribute to Jason with his hockey mask and chainsaw. The scenes in the mall also plays homage to Dawn of the Dead. Good flick for creature fun.
