Favorite CHUD reviews?

AKA: "Hey guys! Let's once again pat the backs of/blow the writers!"

I was searching for an In Bruges review(by the way, if anyone can link me to the other reviews of the film, let me know. This was "Alex's take", which implies there are more)... and yeah, I started clicking like a maniac, and reading older reviews.

I'm talking theatrical and DVD reviews. I'm sure I've missed a few. The entertaining DVD reviews, caps, and captions are what drew me here in the first place, after all.

Devin- Halloween, obviously. Great stuff. He's written better of course(same goes for Nick and Russ), but this review is brutal. The review score that will live in infamy.

Nick- Torque DVD review. Hopefully the screencaps are still there, they aren't showing up for me for some reason. So good.

Russ- In The Name Of The King: A Dungeon Siege Tale. Love it. What else could be done with this film? I'll admit, I haven't seen it, but the review is more entertaining than the movie, no doubt(I have seen the dude's first 3 American movies).

Some of yous cats with superior searching skillz should track down some of the old ones you love, I'm keen on reading them(links please!). Plus, there are a ton of great writers throughout the years that I'm totally leaving out. Beaks and Smilin' Jack for instance, and Slater has done some DVD reviews that killed me.

Slater did a DVD review of a kids film called Xtreme Ape or something like that, and I remember it as one of the reasons I stuck with CHUD. I can't find the link.

Sadly, that was the only one.

Speaking of multiple reviews, though, I have to say I really enjoyed the week of No Country takes, especially Anderson's and Matchstick's.

I still make it a point to hunt down Slater's Holiday Orgy of Despair series around Christmas time for sure fire gut laughs.

Devin's Aqua Teen Movie Review

Nick's epic take on Saw

If I had more time, I'd seek out the Police Academy and Most Xtreme Primate DVD reviews. A job for someone else I guess.

That was the one! Fuck yes! Thank you, sir!

Does anyone else have trouble viewing pre-revamp articles? I get question marks in place of the original punctuation.

Same here, I get weird symbols. Similar to if I ran across a foreign font or something.

Did anyone else get images for that Torque review?
No Torque pics here. I've noticed images missing from other articles too-- the new Gilmore Girls thread had me going through the DVD reviews and I was saddened to see that the caption "Slitherin girls put out" is no longer illustrated.

Devins beautiful review of The Fountain and his spot on take on Hot Fuzz.

...and probably my favorite, Nicks DVD reviews (that essentially mirror my own) of The Fellowship Of The Ring, The Two Towers (couldn't track it, I think it's been lost in the update - even the imdb link to Nicks review goes nowhere now) and The Return Of The King.

PS, if anyone with access to Nicks original reviews of all three Rings films is reading, I'd love to read them again if they can be accessed.

Nick's Saw review is definitely one of my all-time favorites.

In Opera 10.00 I just had to switch the browser's text encoding from default Unicode UTF-8 to Western ISO-8859-1 to clear up the weird symbols.
Classic DVD reviews are fixable by the user. Go to View --> Character Encoding --> Western (ISO-8859-1) in whatever browser you're using. The old articles don't seem to like Unicode.

Since I just dug this up for a new story...

There was a terrific fake Batman review done (I think) by Andre, where the film was a 70s era grindhouse flick. It was a really interesting fictional review, and if anyone can provide a link I'll buy you a hoagie.

I just cracked up from the "I LOVE ROHAN'S BRUNSWICK LANES!" screengrabs from Nick's ROTK:EE review. This was right as I had a customer walk in. I had to do my best to stifle the idiot grin on my face. You know how hard that is!?

Bless you, Nick.

That's the default (I think) in Firefox, and I still get question marks all over the place.

(edit) Huh, it worked the second time. Bizarre.

(2edit) For some reason, the old articles trigger a change from Western to Unicode. Still missing a lot of images either way.
