the theme for the seond series of McFarlane Monsters figures is................................................ .................................................. ...............................................The Wizard Of Oz!

might be cool.

i can't post picks, but on the spawn message board they show 2 rough sketches of the tin man (looking like a cannibalistic monster) and toto(tortured pets) go look! discuss! wonder what the hell i am talking about!

I can see this working really well - and at least it makes a change from the usual "horror" figures. It's certainly the first McFarlane line to pique my interest for a long time.

Hmmm, no doubt inspired by American McGee's Alice.

the tin man looks pretty aweomse as well. chainsaw for his right hand and all.the line should be tin man, lion, scarecrow, dorothy, witch, flying monkey, wizard boxed set! in the book, the wizard is a rhino headed five legged giant monster with 5 eyes. eek!

and the Scary Tales lines

Sweeeeet. If they work from Baum's books, this could be a really kick-ass line of toys. Thank God McFarlane is trying something different.

Does this mean we won't get to see the McFarlane version of Leprechaun? For shame...

I don't know about this. I was hoping they would continue with classic monsters. In particular a zombie, space invader and a radioactive mutant bug creature.

HOLY CHRIST! What the hell?!? Oil can my ass.... So is Dorothy in a skimpy Catholic School Girl Outfit?
I think The Wizard of Oz is probably one of the first things that scared the hell out of me as a child. If that is Toto and the Tin man, I can't wait to see what the witch and those Goddamned flying monkeys look like.

Um...yeah....I guess. McFarlane tosses a few chains on some Tortured Souls toys and he thinks the "chain motif" will work on every toy line.

This is a tad disappointing considering there are so many more MONSTERS he could be doing.

But I'm a sucka', I'll buy these anyway...

The Tin Man looks curiously like Eddie of Iron Maiden fame...
Am I the only one that's noticed practically all Toddy Mac's toys have blades on their hands/wrists/forearms? Freud would have a field day with that...
That chain thing is a bit odd, I noticed that as well. I don't really care what he puts on 'em, cause I'm officially addicted to McFarlane's toys. I'm not proud of it, but this is the coolest thing I think he could do right now.

I'm in my 30's and I'm addicted to these little bits of plastic too, Johnny. Maybe it's the smell of fresh resin that assaults my nostrils every time I open one up that has me hooked.

Good ole balls and chains. Except without the balls. wink

Pretty much everything McFarlane does looks curiously like Eddie of Iron Maiden fame.

He's made some cool toys, but the phrase "one trick pony" does bubble to the surface of my mind every time I see anything by him.

See also: flying chains, wrist blades, and characters crouched on the top of churches in storms...

personally, i was hoping for a line of H.P. Lovecraft mythos figs for series 1, but that never happened. Think about it!

H.P. Lovecraft Mythos series 1

- a deep one
- The outsider
- Nyarlathotep
- herbert west: Re-animator
- the demon from The Lurking Fear

and a cthulhu boxed set!

The only one of these I'd like to see would be our squid-faced friend. Not that I don't love HP's creatures, but I don't think Todd could do justice to them - I don't think anyone could. The beauty of HP's monsters was the fact that they were very rarely vividly described (except the aforementioned squid-faced guy). This left a lot to the imagination - as it should be.

If McFarlene put out a Cthulhu box set, that would be the first toy I would pre-order.

I am all force on the Wizard of OZ toys. When I first read that, I thought they were meaning the film version. Never knew there was THAT much different from the book series to the movie stuff. -_)-;;

That H.R. Giger stuff looks pretty damn sweet if you ask me.. of course none of you did.. but I'm saying so anyway...
Talk about a freudian field day... Somethings up with that guy.

Oh yeah, the McFarlane Cthulu would definitely get some of my cash.

Heck yeah there's a big difference between the Oz movie and the book! The Tin Man decapitates more bad guys than a weekend with Connor MacLeod. It's a bloody, violent book and completely different than the squeaky clean musical. Really, the somewhat scary and surreal movie "Return to Oz" is more inline with the real atmosphere of the books. They're worth reading even at my age

you gotta admit that almost everyone here would like to see a re-animator fig, one way or another. whether from the story, or the movie. i would prefer the movie, though.
I'd want the movie, too. See Jeffrey Combs with that maniacal look on his face, holding up a severed head in one hand and a syringe full of glowing green ooze in the other. Oh hell yeah...

Holy snapple!! Are you serious about a decapitating Tin Man has my money already! Hmm...I think Wizard of OZ is next on my list after I finish with Trainspotting...!
