Spent the week in the Twin Cities area for a wedding.

Yer highways are f**ked. Especially when I had to get off the highway to stay on the highway, or merge onto 62, or wonder if I wanted 35W or 35E which both go North AND South. Construction and potholes, etc. And the WTF speed limits and "take turns" entrance ramps?

But I did like the "creepy sci-fi horror spaceship computer female Brit" voice on the airport tram.

The Arboretum was lovely, and I got to see bears wrestle at the Minn zoo inches away from me, so that was nice. Stayed with a friend in Roseville and commuted frequently to Eden Prairie and Chaska for the festivities.

The weather was touchy, and alas, I didn't get to see the infamous blooming crab apples. I swear everyone raved about them (reminded me of FUNNY FARM).

I'm exhausted.

Yep. Fuck our roads.

But I did get to a St. Paul Saints game. We went for the bachelor party and got seats down on the field between the dugouts and a cooler of beer. Fun. They handed out free Star Trek foam fingers (in the "live long and prosper" vulcan config), and a free shirt.

Still haven't been to a Saints game, but I hear they are awesome.

That interchange for 35W and 62 Crosstown is a nightmare that we've all had to deal with for years.

Damn, I live in Eden Prairie. I'll apologize now for the fucked up directions to our road system down here.

The weather sucked this weekend. Sorry, but you missed out.

A bit chilly, but good low-key fun.

We had a good time anyway. Our schedule was packed, but I got to catch up with close friends that I don't see too often. Pretty surreal experience seeing all of our young'uns play together. Mine's the oldest at 5 in July. It's a shame it's the last of the HS gang to get married (we've had one wedding every 2 years for the past 10 since mine). We'll have to plan some reunions before the funerals start forcing them.

Having been in FL for the past 4 years, Minnesota reminds me of the PA mountains and forests that I miss so much. I could do without the cross-town commute though.

EDIT: Alas, I didn't get to the SPAM museum.

waste of time. take in river valley scenery instead, if you're here again.

the 62/35W interchange has been F'd for years. and supposedly it'll be years before they're finished making sense out of it.

But I will defend the names 35W & 35E. 35 Left & 35 Right would sound a bit childish. Perhaps, 35-Minneapolis & 35-Saint Paul would have made sense, but 35 is a national interstate that splits in several metropolitan areas.

KC & Wichita add number to the front (435 & 635, or 135 & 235). But Dallas uses the 35E/35W names as well.

I suppose we've just assumed, up here, that everyone knows their North, South, East & West.

I used to work down the road from the Saints games and could hear the announcer sometimes from my cubicle. Also, MST3K was filmed across the street.
