The Unwritten

I'm behind in reading this, but 40 pages for $1.00 for issue #1? Sold!

Art looks nice and the general concept could go some interesting places. I can't see this being a totally openended series, you really need to have an end destination in mind, but there's definite places to go.

I'd be interested in hearing from people with a certain "unhealthy obsession" their general thoughts.

This was actually a really good read. My comic store had issues for sale outside of ordering for my account (I guess because this is a #1 and all), and I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. I think that you are right in that this may end up a better series if there is a definitive end in mind, but given the nature of what the book is about (i.e. how stories create and inform our reality) it could go on a long time.

Yeah, this one started off pretty great. I'm a fan of Mike Carey's writing (both his comics and his Felix Castor books), and this looks like another solid series for him. Also loved the art by Peter Gross, which is a lot better than it was on Lucifer.

I was much amused that crazy, acrostic-solving guy was an Alan Moore mirror image. I do suspect that The Unwritten will cover some of the similar thematic ground as LOEG as far as the relevance of stories and pop culture characters before it's all said and done.
