The Thing for the original xbox

I bought this on Ebay for 2 dollars after my friend sort of hyped it up as being "pretty cool".
What am I in for?

A crappy Half life clone. For two dollars if you're a big fan of The Thing, you'll be entertained enough, but games have evolved so much since it came out, I doubt you'll be impressed.

Dude, I love playing classic games that I missed out on now and then. I recently played Manhunt for the first time and liked it more than any of my recent 360 purchases...

You're in for "pretty cool". Better than a film sequel, no doubt.

Domingo is correct that it hasn't aged gracefully, but still, 2 bucks.

It's a great budget title worthy of its license, but still pretty busted in spots.

It is has a brutal difficulty if I recall.

In another thread I admitted I suck and could not defeat this game. For $2, you will get your money's worth.

Most irritating thing about the game- no matter how much you get your teammates to trust you, no matter if you do blood tests on them every 5 seconds, they will still turn into The Thing at scripted parts. Ruins that "trust" aspect of it completely.

It's a pretty average game but has enough for fans of the movie to warrant a playthrough.... especially for 2 bucks.

You'll laugh at this video at least once.

One of the cool things about the game other than the license (which is, let's be honest, the best thing it has going for it) is that there's a protracted intro sequence before the Things start showing up. So few games do this - suspensefully set up a dangerous situation before thrusting the player into a gunfight - that I remember it being notable for the first hour or so alone. Half Lives 1 & 2 did this pretty well, too.

I haven't played it since it first came out on the PS2, so I can't vouch for how well things have held up. It probably looks pretty terrible by now.
