TF2 Sniper/Spy update!

so, um, yeah, Sniper Spy update!! Looks awesome. I only recently discovered the unabashed joy of Team Fortress 2, and play it pretty constantly. Valve's post-release support is second to none.

My Valve ID is Gen_Zhukov, feel free to add me for some Spy v Sniper action. PC Players only, but if you have a PC and not TF2, I am baffled by your decision making process.

The Meet The Spy movie has also been leaked. It is awesome. In fact, I'd love to see what Valve could do with the TF2 engine for a full-length animated movie.

That movie was glorious...why they haven't done a full length thing with it vexes me, as its been said above.
Also, one the best lines ive seen onscreen in ages...you know what Im talking bout!

I'm pretty surprised by a double update, but it makes sense that the Spy will need more help when you're giving the Sniper some anti-spy gear. This game just never stops giving love.

That spy video is the greatest thing ever. The mother joke was lame, but then that spy said that line, and his eyes went wide, and I was on the floor.

Im changing my signature because of its pure awesomeness...also, loved the fact that there's a rumor that Valve itself leaked the video, since it made sense for the "Spy"'s info to be leaked.
Dammit, I might play this some more on the PC.

Love that quote, I would not be surprised if it was Valve that leaked the video, hell, it's free to watch anyways.

This and the Meet the Sniper are some of the best shorts they've ever done. I would love to see some "mini episodes" Plus given that Valve LISTENS to it's fans is something amazing.

I cant even imagine how they would top their fan-pleasing streak; only two "meet the..." to go, and I'm sure they´ll save the Pyro for last.
It sure helps how loyal and dedicated the TF2 community is...the amount of polls and opinions on the game is mind-blowing.
Also, if Valve released an episodic series using the engine on Steam, it would sell like hot cakes.

Hell, some fans are actually saying they think not only the Pyro is a girl...its the Scout's mom!
How a multiplayer only game with pretty much no plot whatsoever can create such fan base is outstanding

Scouts mom? well, given she was hinted at in the Meet the Spy video, I'm not surprised if that's true, Valve like to put little Easter eggs like that all over the place.

I could not agree more, the fan base for this is outstanding. TF2 is crafted with love and talent and it shows.

I mean hell, If any other company did Portal I doubt it would have such the success that it does now.

$20. Its been on sale off and on alot lately though. So if your not in a huge rush you could risk waiting to see if you can catch a deal.

My Steam ID is Cratcho, although I'm pretty sure I'm in the CHUD Steam group if anybody wants to look me up. I end up playing 90% of the time on a low grav 2Fort server just because low grav makes spying significantly more fun, but I'm up for any map really.

Thursday will be interesting with everybody trying to grab up the Sniper and Spy spots. I've made a pretty decent name for myself as a Spy, but I fully expect to see people who NEVER play Spy taking up those slots trying to unlock their toys. I may just go Pyro for a couple weeks.

I'll be doing the same :-) When the Scout update came out I spent most of my time as an engineer. Talk about a blood bath!

Since I rarely even play as a Sniper or a Spy, I'll take my time collecting these weapons.

I love TF2 like a child, but the thought of everyone playing a spy (the preferred class of douchebags and rapists) makes me really reconsidering buying the PC version.

Keep in mind, things are different unless you go out of your way to find a 5v5 server. You're used to smaller games. Success as a Spy is really tough on the PC version as there are always Pyros running around checking every corner.

Although last night I had one of my finest Spy moments as the Red team was pouring down the sewers to break up a base we had down there in 2Fort. They had 2 ubers ready to go and most of their team set to rush. I came in through their base front door and ran down to the sewers behind them. Luckily the medics were the first 2 backs, but I ran through 8 guys before they could get off either uber. It was bliss, and I'll take being called a rapist to experience that feeling.

I don't think it will be too bad. Most of the people will stick to the achievement farming servers at first. And in real game, i don't think a team full of spys would do very well. Most will just change back after getting beat for a few rounds.

It's not kamikaze spies. It's the horrible hit detection on backstabs. I backstabbed a heavy 3 times last night and none of them registered before he spun around and destroyed me. Later I got caught in a bad spot with a demo right in front of me, took a random stab since my cover was already blown and he fell down dead with me getting credit for a backstab. After a while you get used to the fact that if you randomly stab at them you might live.

by terrible I mean that my experience with that update had every team with at least 8 medics. Of course now on any server there are not ENOUGH teammates as medics so go figure.

My wife got tired of me turning the speakers on my PC to insane levels (I didn't buy THX speakers just to have them sit around and look pretty damn it!) So she went to Wal-Mart and spent $30 bucks on a HP head set with mic, works damn fine.

For a headset, I recommend actually buying them somewhere that sells warranties. I bought mine at Best Buy with a 2 year warranty, and headsets pretty much break yearly if you use them at all. It's the only time I've ever bought an extended warranty and it's paid for itself over and over again. Every year when I bring the headset in to get a new one I renew the warranty for another 2 years.

Edit:

Through a complete coincidence I have a doctor's appointment on Thursday and had already scheduled to take the whole day off because of it. Looks like I'll be working like crazy to unlock my Ambassador before the freaks show up at night time.
