Just wondering if anyone else has seen this film?

I recently got it from NetFlix and watched it. It had an interesting premise but didn't seem to deliver well. Wasn't great. Wasn't horrible. I thought they could have done much more with the concept.

For those who haven't seen it...

Premise: A woman buys an old used type writer for her boyfriend. The ribbon has previously typed text on it and the boyfriend/writer decides to translate it and research the authors doings. It is a supernatural tale of cheating death and some other supernatural events.

It's an Italian dubbed into English DVD. Picture transfer was fairly aweful and the was nothing remarkable about the sound quality.

I was fairly intrigued about the story line but was disappointed in it's execution.

That sounds poo. Who buys a second hand typewriter and is surprised to see someone has already used the ink ribbon. And who bothers to decipher it all?

"Wait...wait...I've got it...'Dear Granny, thank you very much for my GI Joe doll. I had a lovely birthday. Hope you are well. Love Timmy".

Luca (remember that fella, longtimers??! boy i miss him) used to wax lyrical about this picture -- with good reason. Pupi Avati is a grand old man of Italian cinema. And this is a typical Avati product. Subtle, measured and chilling.

Saw it at a film fest a few years ago and was quite impressed. It's not a film to be blown away by.

That, allegedly although I've yet to see it, is reserved for Avati's "House With The Windows That Laugh". It's coming soon to DVD from what I hear....and is by all accounts magnificent !

viva al italia !!

Avati's stuff is very much an acquired taste, slow-burning and moody. Personally I'm not the biggest fan of either THWWTL or Zeder.
