I've been ranting and raving about Colin Munroe for the good part of a year now, and it seems like he's set to really blow up soon. Colin Munroe is an Ottawa, Ontario native who grew up in Toronto (represent.)
He's currently making big waves in the hip hop community. After releasing his remix of Kanye West's "Flashing Lights", Kanye used the song on one of his mixtapes. He's produced tracks for guys like Black Milk, has been featured on several other hip hop albums and released his own mixtape which was better than most hip hop albums that I heard in 2008!
I saw him live a couple of weeks ago at a show with Saukrates and a ton of other local hip hop heavyhitters, and he did not disappoint!
Has anyone else listened to his stuff?
If not, he comes highly recommended. I don't know how many of you Chewers do listen to pop or hip hop, but if you'd like to give him a shot, his mixtape can be found here. Please look beyond the Bob Dylan track. I have a feeling he'll get a lot of backlash from this crowd for that one.
