The Spike Marshall Thread

Thread Starter
Spike,
Instead of derailing every thread on the board, please use this thread to:
A) Complain about the B-Action movie thread
B) List everybody you have on ignore
C) Talk about how you only want to talk about cinema

If you can't contain your vendetta to this thread alone, I will be forced to put you on IGNORE and then remind everyone in every thread that I have you on ignore.

Oh, and kill yourself.

Two men enter, one man leaves.

hahahaha
He's that bad?
Oh, no. This can't be good.
I've always found him to be one of the better chewers.
I'm pretty sure Spike isn't allowed to self terminate.
Can we start a BobClark thread about how you have a thing for Nick's announcements?
The "Dogpile on BobClark for not agreeing with everything Nick types" thread?
How about "Threads That Complain About Attention Hounds While Ironically Giving Them That Which They Crave"?
Leave Spike alone! (grabs popcorn and waits for the meltdown)

Ignoring Spike won't make him go away.
I believe it was Bea Arthur who said:
"First he came for the B-Action Movie thread and I didn't speak up because I was not a B-Action movie fan. Then he came for the James Bond thread and I didn't speak up because I was not a James Bond fan. Then he came for the Star Trek thread and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Star Trek fan. Then he came for me... and by that time there was nobody left to speak up."
Whatever his attitude, Spike's pretty good on actual film.
Further proof that Spike sucks- he's letting this incredible thread die.
Spike singled me out for hatred in some random thread and I have no idea what I did to offend him so. That said, I really don't have a problem with him. He'll never know that though 'cause I imagine I'm on his ignore list.

He's taking a page from his most hated enemy Moltisanti's playbook.
I believe it was Bea Arthur who once said:
Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer.
You're being too hard on Spike, Bob. Without him we wouldn't know which movies made between 1985 and 1987 aren't worth a damn today.

Thank Christ THROW MOMMA FROM THE TRAIN has been spared from his wrath. So far at least. Feel like the other shoe is gonna drop on that one any second.
Haha. Awesome.

Didn't 2pac say that? If Bea Arthur said that, then she's a gank-sta!

___

Spike Marshall likes certain kinds of movies and such, that's fine and dandy - but when fellow Chewers are doing their thing in a certain thread, he spaz's out and name calls them for no good reason. There is proof.

It's like he to wants to embrace Michael Dudikoff in AMERICAN NINJA and the one-two combo of Ernie Reyes and Rob Schneider in SURF NINJAS - but something is holding him back.

TOP: B-Thread chilling and grooving and everybody is welcomed...

BOTTOM: Spike Marshall wanting to groove to no avail...

Just because.
Anyone who think he's "outgrown" ALIENS is definitely one of the pod people. No offense to you Spike or your simulacrum brethren.
Could this thread also serve as a compendium of movies Spike Marshall has outgrown, for easy cross-reference with movies I like? I find using the search function for this purpose both time-consuming and too liable to oversight.
The Aliens thread was a pretty interesting discussion.

You guys would have fallen in really well in Nazi Germany. (Awww, yeah, you got GODWIN'D!)

You're pissing into the wind, Phil. Nobody around here is going to listen to any discussion of Aliens that doesn't consist solely of "Best Movee Evar".

Bob, if you don't like the guy, why wouldn't you just put him on Ignore instead of starting a thread about him? Isn't that what the Ignore function is for? Slagging on him for using a site function for its intended purpose seems a little odd.
I don't have problem with Spike. I play with game with him online. He has complaints and opinions, some of them justifiable, some not. But really....creating a thread just to hate him?

Spike didn't talk about it to himself for 7 pages. (Fuck, I'm having a "good old days of the board" moment, and my good old days were less than two years ago.)

And BobClark started this thread for laughs; I want to be clear that I'm comparing the Dogpile Gang to Nazis, not him.
I'm re-reading that thread now. I'd forgotten all about the Vietnam allegory portion of the discussion. That was good stuff.
I like Spike and I miss him in this thread!

While I typed the above my Domino's XL pepperoni feast with extra cheddar arrived. Spike get your ass in here NOW and start fucking people up!
Aren't we just making fun of his snotty attitude?

Yeah, quick, before BL's aorta clogs up!
Wait, cheddar on a pizza?
If you're far gone enough to order from Domino's, the type of cheese really doesn't enter into it.

Mozzarella AND cheddar! It only works on American style pizzas though, not Italian.

Too bad 1 of the large pizzas is 18 dollar, otherwise I would be clogging myself into sweating saturated fat every single day!
Nothing on Dominos Pizza works. Nothing. They could throw in a free blowjob with those fucking plastic disks of reheated puke and I wouldn't send out for one of them even if the only other option for nutrition was the slowly rotting corpse of my mother.

Spikes one of the better posters around. You can't hang shit on him for getting uppity: Dudes English. Thats what they do.
Wait, somebody DOESN'T like the B-Action Thread?
I don't. But that's why I don't post in there.

Right.

And you also don't make it a point to remind everyone how much it sucks at least once in every thread that you do post in.

What if you never thought it was good?
Then you're obviously not human, and should be nuked from orbit- it's the only way to oh my god I can't bring myself to write it.
Psst Alex. Ryan is an acknowledged Cameron dissenter. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

You tried.

Spike's a smart guy. I respect his opinions. He's difficult to deal with at times, but I've always been able to deal.

That being said I still like Aliens. If that's a deal breaker then so be it.

You and all who share a strong genetic similarity with you must be quarantined from contact with the outside world for the good of humanity.

I can understand something like this:

"I, personally, don't really enjoy the motion picture Aliens. But I will concede that it is a sensational piece of filmmaking. It's simply not my cup of tea."

Much like I can say something like:

"Marmite tastes as what I imagine shit seasoned with piss must taste like, but millions of Brits love it, so it must be good and I am wrong for not liking it."

Or: Miles Davis was a talented musician. And he made good music. But I, personally, hate Jazz.

But to just say: "Aliens is not a good movie"?

No. That statement makes no sense.

Well, my brother likes it so can he be off his list? And technically my daughter shares no genes with me so can she be off the list as well?

I, on the other hand, deserve my place on the list and am proud of it.

It's an average movie at best. While I can understand that there are people who think it's great (some people think Taco Bell is great), I'm not one of them. I think it has a very saggy middle, it altered the Xenomorphs to the detriment of the series and Cameron's dialogue reaks up the joint. It has a few nifty action sequences and a pretty nice look but that's about it.

I understand that the next proposition in California is to prevent us from marrying each other.

ETA: Sorry about the multi posts. I always forget that we can do multiquotes here.
Even the Special Edition of Aliens doesn't skimp on rising tension; how, then, can the second act be " very saggy", Ryan? You don't like the dialogue... fair enough, but how did the film's portrayal of the eponymous extraterrestrials diminish the series' quality?
Bobby, if you're going to make us all read that argument again, then so too should you.
Working on it now, Phil. Apologies for exacerbating the tangent; thanks for the link. I just couldn't let such a striking, unexplained statement go unquestioned.

Back to matters Spike, I think he's charismatic, engaging, and a valuable member of the boards.
