Chewer Freemasons - Page 3

Any freeman may join the masons.

It has been my understand that in the US, anyways, membership has been falling over the years.

For most the Right is about movie night and sport events nights.

also you must share a secret upon joining.

Freemasons run the country!

I was waiting for that joke. About time it showed up.

Do you get one of these when you join?

'The Man Who Would Be King' is a great movie, and it actually presents a pretty accurate picture of how Freemasons regard and respect each other when we interact. The bonds of trust and brotherhood are very real things.

Damn, I need to get that model. Thanks for the link, Tom.

So has a Freemason ever fucked over another Freemason, and what happens then?
If the answer isn't "Tribunal" then I don't really care.

Expulsion. Yes, it's happened.

Details! You don't just take a guy's word and blow the other guy out an airlock. What's the process?
It's odd this thread's here - since I was recently asked if it was something i'd consider. I even got shown around a masonic lodge. All very ceremonial.

Seems to be mostly business orientated and perhaps quite a large amount of simply being "part of" something exclusive.

I really can't go into details, Phil. That's all dealt with internally.

However, if you really want to know Phil, then perhaps you'd be interested in joining the brotherhood?

I got ya. Obviously, I just meant to the extent you were able to share. Are you able to say at all how often expulsion occurs? I'm curious if changing times have weakened the value of honor and oaths and a man's word, etc., and if your experience reflects that at all.
I would say that the concepts of 'honor', 'oaths', and 'a man's word' are still very much alive, both within the Lodge and without. From my experience, alot of men are CRAVING these things.

To paraphrase a line from the film 'Rob Roy': Honor is a man's gift to himself.

I know that I can trust my Brothers around the world in virtually every way. I can't go into more detail than that, Phil.

Just reading this...as well as the rest of the thread...makes me want to take a good long look.

Thanks for sharing, JB. And thank ye, Phil, for asking.

Judas - I have no idea where the boundaries are, so don't take my continued questions as disrespect. If you can't answer, cool.

Is the honor stuff exclusive to the brotherhood, or can you expel a dude for being a douchebag out in the real world? Example: Freemason A has a secret life with another woman in another town, and his primary family has no clue. He's found out. Do you kick him out for conduct unbecoming, or do you rally round him to help him pick up the pieces?

Freemason B gets brought up on embezzlement charges. Does/can Freemason C be his lawyer, or is B out on his ass?

Hey Phil: I take no issue with your questions at all. We're totally cool on the matter, and I respect your curiosity.

Nobody is perfect (there's no halo above MY head, I assure you), but Masonry encourages us to become better men, both internally and externally. In general, we are there to help and support a Brother as the situation merits and requires it. We will not support a Brother involved in an illegal activity. Beyond that, I really cannot comment.
