Non-shitty Nick Fury, Alpha Flight, Vision, Dr. Strange, Black Bolt, Doctor Octopus, Silver Samurai, Nova, Sub-Mariner, Howard the Duck(!), Beast, Ultron, Red Skull and Baron Zemo.

Rom the Space Knight.

Oh, and fuck Carnage.
For many old fogies, the 90's were a dark time for superhero comics, but if that's what you grew up with then that's what you know and like. I hope they get Carnage just right for you.

As far as DLC goes, I really liked having Dr. Strange in the first one, and The Sentry would be cool. I'd love to see the Punisher, but I understand there are some rights issues there. If I can't have him, then I'd settle for a normal (non-nanite) Nick Fury who just used guns, grenades, and cool spy gadgets. Black Panther maybe? More mutants - Cyclops and Nightcrawler. Every fan probably has their own list.

Nightcrawler was one of the best characters in the first game. Definitely bring him back.

The Beyonder, so he can turn back time and make this game never exist.

You are not alone...I have no problem admitting my love for the original Venom and Carnage storylines during the 90's, but I was a teen back then...I outgrew the stuff once it was all over, and after "Maximum Carnage", there wasnt much else to do with the characters after that.
I'd definitely woul love to see Baron Zemo (Thunderbolts), Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Wonderman, Beast and Hercules as playable characters.
Some comic book based missions or expansions would be even better.

That's something you don't see everyday.

Wow, this game is a buggy piece of shit. Floating Iron Man, a Deadpool that runs in place, and game-freezing Fusion moves. Par for the course, Vicarious Visions!
I had a character run up in the air once. The only fusion freezing I've noticed is the game's auto-save kicking in. It likes to run it at the beginning of boss fights, which is usually when I trigger a fusion. It's never more than a second or two.

Oh, and it's crashed on me twice, so yeah, it's buggy. This game is only for serious marvel fans willing to put up with some major tech. and gameplay issues.

I do enjoy the game quite a bit, but it is disheartening to know that it's a hollow shell of the last one. The previous game was so much deeper, you got to have 4 unlockable costumes each with their own upgrades. The story took you all over the Marvel universe and such.

I like the influx of NPC characters in this game and the unique conversations and what not. I like the idea of the heroic deeds and such, but it's just so much thinner overall.

And the fucking autolevel is going to cause me to commit a homicide. In the past game I only had to turn it off once for each character. This games seems to turn it back on whenever it feels and completely fuck up my point distribution.

But oh well, I do enjoy it nonetheless, potential homicide, not withstanding.

As a lifelong Marvel fan, I'm always going to enjoy running around as Spider-Man, Hulk, et al and smashing up robots. But you're right - this one is 'thinner.' That's the perfect word.

+ The graphics are better and the fusions are fun. That's the good news.

- Only four moves per character, and only one alternate costume.

- No comics books to find, and no great loading screen art. (That one sounds petty, but fan service counts in these games.)

- Speaking of petty - I prefer the old hero selection screen. The were all lined up before, and it felt like choosing a softball team. "I'll take him, him, her, and him." And you could mix and match without loading. Now they're all on that dumb lazy susan thing, and each switch has to load up.

- The RPG elements are all but gone. X-Men Legends 2 gave us nearly ten powers to choose from per character. And yes, in this one, the auto-leveling comes back on whenever you switch a hero out of your team. Here's the really crappy news about that - I gave up fighting it after a while and just let the comp. distribute points, and I didn't notice much difference. All you can really do is have one weak power to give a few more points to the other three anyway; you're better off having four balanced ones.

- Here's the worst sin - they screwed up my favorite power from the last game. In MUA1 they nailed Cap's shield. Throwing it felt fast and powerful, and enemies struck with it were knocked flat on their back. In this one, it's slower, and passes through enemies without much impact.

I had been waiting for the half-price mark to pick this up, but the more I hear from everyone here, the less inclined I am to do it even then. It sounds like a big downhill slide from the first game.
Cap definately feels a little neutered in this game. In the last game he was a fucking monster when you started to upgrade his shield throw.

I really miss the ability to select among a bunch of powers and the loading screens were a nice touch as well.
I also miss picking and choosing the powers you use. I've been enjoying the game though. And I'm also disappointed in Cap's shield throw. With Cap and Thor on my team, I could wipe a shitload of guys out without even getting close to them from throwing Cap's shield and Thor's hammer. Now the best I can do with Thor is the lightning strike and slamming the hammer on the ground.
I find Thor (and all four of his powers) to be very powerful in this game. I know, I know - he's a god. But it seems that no attempt was made to balance him for game purposes. The Natural Forces team (Thor, Jean Grey, Storm, Torch, Iceman) makes even Legendary difficulty a breeze. 5% of the damage they do is converted to health, and when I'm controlling Thor that's plenty. Equip boosts that increase power damage, let the comp control Jean, Storm, and Iceman for control and slows, and breeze on through. I just finished Legendary with an anti-team. I'm going to table it until some DLC comes out.

I agree for the most part with Alex, I rented it a couple weeks ago and just found myself not very invested and just kinda bored.

There's also the fact that this big, epic game is supposed to have you fighting all these big moments but every boss fight (save one) is exactly the same. There's no thinking, you just run up to every one and hit him or her till they go down.

Never mind how there's almost no variation in the enemies, and you fight the same weak thugs all throughout the game.
I picked this up for PS2 last weekend, played it for about a half-hour, got stuck and said the hell with it. I'll probably revisit it once I've forgotten why I quit playing in the first place. I dug the hell out of the original in spite of its repetitive nature, but this is a boring slog.

The DLC for this game comes out tomorrow (5th) and it's 800 points. Cable, Carnage, Psylocke & 2 unnamed players come with it. As well as extra sim missions and boosts.
Christ, Cable AND Carnage?

They really are just out to make the worst game in history.

Full list is Magneto, Carnage, Psylocke, Cable, Black Panther and Juggernaut.

For those who like this game, how often do you punch yourself in the balls? Is it a semi-daily thing or just when the game is loading? Do you ever try to wire up the controller and try swing it between your legs and hit the back your sack? Does cutting ever enter the picture?
It's not my favorite game by any means but I do enjoy it for what it is. Although no ball damaging or cutting enters my thought process.

Downloaded them last night and played some today. One tip--I noticed that the auto-spend isn't turned on for these characters, so none of them are as powered up as your other players. I started with Magneto and Juggernaut on my team, and both were dead within 10 seconds. I'm playing through the pro-reg part this time (on Legendary), so it's all different stuff I'm doing vs. the anti-reg. So that's got my interest, at least.

Ok, I have to give props to this--I just beat the game on Super-Heroic mode (already beaten in Heroic and Legendary), and when I went back to the Wakandian Palace, I noticed a sound file to pick up. When I clicked on it, I find out that it's stream-of-consciousness audio from the Hulk, called "Hulk-kus". Some of his thoughts:

"Hulk just join awesome club, and first rule is, you don't talk..oops. Hulk break first rule."
"Hulk SMASH WHOLE WORLD! And Hulk call act 'The Aristocrats.'"
"Hulk want to hug kitties...but they so easy to squish!"

Unfortunately, I don't think it saved it like it does the other audio files, I think it just disappeared. It went on for a good 2-3 minutes.

EDIT: Found it online, of course.
I found that audio clip very enjoyable.
