Just picked it up yesterday. Everywhere in my area has been constantly sold out for the past week. I'll throw an invite out your way once I get back in the hang of it, boss - been ages since I played the last one on the OG XBox.

Cool. Just played some 3 player co-op with some mates today. It's more of the same but it's good fun. The on screen enemy count is impressive but I seem to be losing track of where the heck my character is quite often.

Same - threw it in this morning and had a go with wifey and our friend. Initial thoughts are that the button lay-out is different to the original and doesn't feel as natural. I, too, tend to lose myself on-screen a bit at times.

Also, being Iron Man and using your fusion power with Spidey is FANTASTIC!

Is the Civil War storyline really that much of a selling point for some? Doesn't everyone just skip past all the text in these games?
When I played UA 1 on the psp in single player, yes I went through all the text. UA2 4 player co-op via XBL: No, we skip all the text and continue with the smashing of shit up.

CW isn't a selling point because of the text it offers - it's a selling point because here, as in the comics, the CW is just an excuse to have superheroes pound each other, which comic fans always like to see. Most of the bosses in the game are your fellow heroes.

It's mindless as all hell but I'm actually kind of digging the game. I know dick all about the Marvel universe (my only exposure to it is via the movies and the early 90s Spiderman/X-Men/Iron Man cartoons) so a lot of it is flying over my head but it's diverting enough.
If this was a DC Universe game I'd be all over it like a fat kid on a cupcake.

*sigh*

The game's decent but ONLY with friends. It's terrible by yourself... your computer pals are goddamn idiots.
Really? I've found having Jean Grey and Hulk as computer controlled characters to essentially be the 'Win The Game Without Trying' combination. I barely get a chance to punch shit.

Plus the gameplay's just boring (at least that's the way I found it with the first). Even with friends over, I'd eventually get bored and just want to dick around on Halo 3 again killing each other and blowing stuff up. And I don't even really LIKE Halo all that much.

They made a similar game for last-gen systems. 'Justice League Heroes' I think. Not quite as good, but still a fun beat-em-up if you're a fan of the genre and/or license. You could only control 2 heroes at a time though.

Jesus, the end of the Second Act is one of the most ridiculous difficulty spikes I've seen in a long time.

Deadpool is actually kind of funny in this!

Is that the Tinkerer? That took me and my son like 4-5 times to beat. The best power-up that we found early was one that added 50% damage to the Fusion attacks. We finished the Anti-Reg level, and started in Legendary mode and will do the Pro-Reg level this time. Also disappointed in the new "rule" that you can't save if you enter a cheat code. That cost us a couple of re-starts in the whole Tinkerer thing. Oh, or is that the "end" of the Civil War? That was ridiculously hard as well. Restarted a bunch on that one too.

Love using Wolverine, Deadpool, and Nick Fury. They have the auto-healing characteristics, so if you can make through a level, you can hold back a few minutes and let your health charge back up again.

Oh, and I thought that Justice League Heroes game was terrible. I bought that for my son and I to play, and after getting so frustrated at the terrible camera angles and the fact that our heroes were getting killed after 2-3 hits from a random bad guy, I took it back to Gamestop and sold it.

Iron Fist has a team heal - he's handy to have around.
I rented this a couple days ago, and overall I'm pretty happy with it.
As expected (and stated here), much like the first one it's real value is in playing with a group of friends. On it's own, it's not nearly as much fun. Very stripped down from the first one (although being able to swap out at will is cool).

My friend got it for her Wii and she's pissed - can only swap out at extraction points like the first game, the Fusion dealie is a frustrating pain in the ass, and the game in general has been stripped down to a lesser game overall. She's pissed. And she's got two wrestling matches this weekend - someone's going to pay dearly for something they aren't responsible for.

Oh, that's cool. Thanks for the info. We also accidentally stumbled upon the "Shut Up Already" team bonus which upped our stamina, I think. It's all the guys with a big mouth--our team at the time was Spider-Man, Dead Pool, Thing, and Ice Man.

One thing that does piss me off--unless you ordered from Gamestop, you can't get Juggernaut. Even if you bought it today from GS, they've given out all the codes already for the character. So now I'm already waiting for that character to be downloadable. My mom bought my son the game for his birthday, so I had to explain to him why we didn't have Juggernaut, and why we couldn't get him. My son's response: "Well, that's just stupid."
Is the Punisher in this at all?
Nope. I think he may be tied up, rights-wise, because of that other PSN game. I know there were issues initially with the first game with characters like Hulk not being in the original release due to Sega.
It must be something of that ilk, because it can't be the whole "he's too violent for a video game reason", as one of Deadpool's main powers is unloading with a two handgun salute. Plus, lots of "damn" in the game. So, not exactly a game for the "Superhero Squad" generation. My son's first two questions when we started playing, "Does this have the Hulk this time?" and "Is the Punisher in here?". He still plays that old Hulk: Unleashed(?) game from time to time.

Although the Skrull Invasion storyline is hinted at during the conclusion of the game, I'd love to see some kind of Heroes vs. Marvel Zombies add-on or additional level download. The question is, will they give it more DLC than the original game? I hope so.
Eugh. I liked how Ultimate Alliance 1 went all crazy with the Marvel Universe, going to Atlantis and Asgard and the Skrull Homeworld and all these great comic book locales. Chaining the story down to Civil War sapped any interest I had in it, because that pretty much dictated that the whole game was going to be warehouses and labs. And hey, it was! If they keep going, they should go back to the ideas that informed the first one, and just go nuts with it. What's the point of all these great, outlandish characters if you're going to stick them in a bunch of gray corridors for ten hours?
I think the Skrull storyline could do that. You could go all over the world and the galaxy with that storyline. Although they kept mentioning the "previous Galactus crisis" that the heroes encountered...but Galactus was just one level in UA1, and that was on the Skrull world. It was hinted at the conclusion of UA1, though...was there a UA 1.5 that never got released?
Not that I know of.

You know what'd be great? Make Kang the main villain, and bring time travel into it.
Like they could have areas based on like Guardians of the Galaxy, or Days of Future Past, or Age of Apocalypse.

Have they done the Savage Land yet? That always seemed like a no-brainer locale.
Downloaded the Juggernaut DLC. Finished the game on Heroic. Juggernaut is nowhere to be seen. How the hell do I unlock/ use him?
NOTHING unlocks the JUGGERNAUT!

"Natural Forces" is a great team. Pick four out of Human Torch, Iceman, Jean Grey, Storm, or Thor. All powerful characters, and 5% of the damage they do is converted into health. FF makes a nice team too - their fusion meter builds up 35% faster.

I loved the first, but I also like how this one is a bit more down to earth. Kang is a great idea for MUA3.

It's a rights thing, which is unfortunate, because Frank would fit in better in this game than he would have in the first, swimming around Atlantis and everything. He played a part in the CW comics too. It's a shame - I'd love to have him in the game.

Forgive me, but we can all miss the obvious sometimes. After you downloaded the DLC, did you install it?
I believe the Savage Land was in X-Men Legends 2. There were giant ants. Or maybe it was just Costa Rica.
Bleh. I didn't like the X-Men Legends games, mostly because 99% of the X-Men are shitty.
I think with the Legends/Ultimate Alliance games, it really doesn't matter what the locale is, they're usually pretty boring anyway. The real appeal is playing with your buddies and organizing your team to wear specific outfits so you can bask in Aspergery goodness.

If you download the free juggernaut from live marketplace, its just an update to let you use him/have him available when you play with people who got the preorder code from gamestop to get him.

Carnage has been announced as a downloadable character for this, no confirmed release date or if he's coming solo or in a character pack, but he looks fucking bad ass.
Fuck Carnage. He's one of the worst characters in the Marvel circus tent. Paste Pot Pete is a better character than Carnage. In fact, if they make Paste Pot Pete a downloadable character, I'll buy him. And I don't even own this game yet.

qft
Carnage is one of the absolute worst characters to come out of the utter garbage boom of the 90s.
Agreed - if there's a character more boring and one-dimensional than Venom, it's Carnage. What a terrible choice.
Plus, why does the game need THREE DIFFERENT SPIDER-MANS?
Plus (and I may be giving this more thought than the developers), but why would Carnage participate in either side of the Civil War? I thought he was just "oh I'm crazy I like to kill people blah blah yawn."
The plot of this game makes even less sense than the actual Civil War storyline, so that's probably just not an issue. Hey let's have Magneto on the pro-reg side, please!

(spoilers, if you really care)

The villains are mostly mind controlled by SHIELD, and later on by the virus that's supposedly behind it all.
As someone who never read the comics I was surprised at how much of a douche the game made Captain America. Pro-Reg or Anti-Reg the guy is kind of a cock. In single player the game drags like a motherfucker about a quarter of the way through, it’s made tolerable by the co-op but really it’s just not all that fun on your own.
One of the big problems with big event storylines in comics is that comic fans basically want everything to stay as it is, but still crossovers have to give you this illusion that the stakes are immense and there's NO TELLING how things will look at the end. So the game, much like the Civil War comics, tries to convince you that the registration debate is actually something worth mulling over, and that perhaps the pro side is right! Sadly this iskind of hard to do when you're stressing Patriot Act parallels and making Iron Man and Mr.Fantastic seem like the biggest douches in the universe, so the only way out is to make anti reg characters seem unbearably strident and agressive.
If you read Civil War and The Ultimates, you see that Captain America IS a dick. A crusty, 1940's era Alpha Male stuck 60 years in the future where a good portion of his ideas are wontonly shat upon.

I liked the game quite a bit. I don't have a roommate anymore, so it was kinda dull playing by myself, but I tend to play most games alone anyway. It'll be interesting to see what DLC we get for this.
That's just because Mark Millar writes everybody as an utter cunt.
I haven't looked it up, but it sounds like they're sticking with the Web of Shadows nerd guy for Spider-Man's voice. It grates, and yet gratifies.
Well I guess I'm in the minority here on Carnage, and by minority I guess I mean the only one.

I first started getting interested in comics during the Maximum Carnage storyline as a kid. So I've always liked Venom and Carnage, I'm not familiar with any other variations of them to be honest as I don't follow comics at all anymore, but I still like them.

Who would y'all like to see added as DLC?
