Too bad it took so long for this show to ratchet up the tension and conflict in an interesting way.

 

And it's hard to imagine that a spacefaring race of lizard-people would be so deathly afraid of ghosts.

 

"We must eradicate their SOULS!"

 

"Umm, why was that again?"

 

"Because it gives them strength!"

I caught the first few episodes of the old V TV series recently. For all the criticism it gets compared to the miniseries, I found it more entertaining than this current iteration. The old cast was nice to see again, the hairspray factor is off the hook, there was an excuse for a car chase in every episode, and Michael Ironside gets cold-cocked by a 10 year old who studied alien martial arts. That's quality 80's TV.

Kind of annoying that the show continues to get better as it spirals towards cancellation. It would've been so much easier if it had just spun off the rails. Instead, we now have a show worth watching, and only a little more time left to enjoy it. Poop.

Totally missed the boat.  Erica should have killed Ryan.  Anna should be taken out by Diana via her daughter and become the biggest, baddest bitch ever.  Diana's humanity will make her worse than any V.  Anna sucks.

 

And why did the V's beed a merc to push a button?  Makes no sense.  And the proof of life was crap.  Proof of life is a video or atleas a pic, not 2 words over a phone.  Kill this guy too.

At the very least, I was expecting the 5th Column to use Ryan as a sacrifice by exposing his lizardity to the world.  The show has gotten much better and I know the writers have taken great pains to show the Vs do not leave corpses behind, but C'MON!  Hostage situation, television news crews present.  Missed opportunity to expose the Vs, Mr. Eli Cohen.

How dare Anna order experiments be performed on the hybrid baby for the benefit of her spare queen egg thus causing the hybrid baby to age rapidly. Then as a topper she orders hybrid baby and her father be killed. Disgusting.

Two exceptional pairs of breasts on display. Living in a basement apparently gives the dude plenty of time to work out. How can poor nonFather Jack compete with those pecs? As for Elizabeth Mitchell, yeah, she can still bring enough sex appeal for an entire show.

 

I keep wondering how popular this show would be if it had this kind of pacing from the outset. It's still not great, but it's exciting, and Mitchell is kicking ass. I hope it has a cool finale, as I can still remember the original V series being my initial childhood foray into what cliffhanger-cancellation meant.

Did you also notice their positions as she "blissed" him? He spreads his legs and she steps into the space. Then comes his 'O' face and her slumping to the couch. Yeeeah. Lizards or not, between mom and daughter, that's the luckiest kid on Earth.

I dig where his arc has gone. He started off as a selfish opportunist, turned the corner to becoming a hero of the resistance, and is seen as even more of a selfish asshole. 

 

Good stuff.

 

Another cool, fun episode. Even the characters have improved. Next week looks like a wild ride.

Obviously rushed and w/ a wonky narrative, but I'd be watching for sure if there was a season 3.

Erica should have shot Ryan when they found he was a traitor.  But glad he's dead anyway.

 

Would have loved Diana taking over with her using her humanity as a weapon.  But i like the direction.

 

Can't believe they made the kid shave his head before they dumped him.  Atleast he went out happy.

 

Marc Singer is horrible.  Bring in Ham Tyler.

That's like 80% of the characters.  I guess they needed the money to pay for Marc Singer.  Or, are they saving up for Michael Ironside?

In all seriousness, now that they've culled the herd (take that, Morris Chestnut!), we better get a third season.  I won't rest until I actually get to see the Vs stuff one of their weird lizard bodies into a meat suit.
