Oh, wow. I think I remember this from the shelves of one of my childhood video stores, but I never checked it out. I didn't realize it involved zombies or I'd have been all over it. Looks like it's not available from Netflix (other than to add to your saved titles list, which has mostly been a tease in my experience) but it is pretty cheap on Amazon. Dare I?

Also the whole "condensing the whole movie into the trailer" thing obviously isn't a new problem

Ordered! $5! I can't believe I passed this up years ago on vhs. Great trailer. The googley-eyed Phyllis Diller zombie cracks me up.

I remember seeing this trailer on the tape of a horror flick called Zombies vs. Vampires, which despite including zombies, vampires, random, unmotivated lesbianism, the gory death of a Colonel Sanders look-alike, the disemboweling of the main characters by teleporting child zombies, and a fair amount of carnage via electric hedge clippers (guess the budget couldn't cover a chain saw), was the worst movie I've ever seen. The camerawork was so horrible and unsteady it actually gave you a headache. I figured this one, while looking similarly batshit (Poopenplatz!), would be just as disappointing in the flesh.
