Classicflix got the scoop.

Hopefully Once Upon a Time in the West with its restored print will join African Queen as part of the October releases.

That's the only film, the only film from the AFI top 100 list not on DVD. I heard it was quality issues, but if Paramount has it, it's because of rights issues, as this used to be a Fox title (was it a Republic film?)

I believe it was a United Artists/FOX title for the longest time. Then, Paramount got the rights. There were rumors for the longest time that Criterion was going to handle it and then that died off.

I heard talk about this title being a Centennial Collection contender along with Wings. Now, we got some confirmation which leads me to believe that Paramount is going to try and drop a few more bigger titles for 4Q this year.

As many times as I've watched this on TCM, hard to believe it's not on DVD. Bout fucking time.

Never seen it, but glad to hear that Bogart's Oscar winning role is going to be on dvd finally. Heard about it so much, that I'm really looking forward to it. I'll be picking it up in October.
