I don't usually pick up those pricey UK music magazines, but my daughter bought this month's Uncut for me, since it has a Springsteen feature written by Steve Van Zandt, and it comes with a very cool bonus.
Not the CD of songs "hand-selected" by The Boss (though that's there), but a gorgeous little booklet called "Dylan's America".
It's on heavy paper stock, and unfolds to about 3' by 2'. One side is a sort of antique-looking map of the U.S., showing over a hundred places mentioned in Bob Dylan's songs, or important to his career. The other side is a detailed concordance describing where and how each place figures in the Dylan saga.
It's really beautiful, and when I finish reading it, will go right up on the old cubicle wall.
