New cool site

Here is a link to a site that a friend told me about. It is about hauntings in Georgia. There is some rather creepy stuff on there, but I'm always skeptical. Anyway, if you like ghost stories, etc. check it out:

Here's an interesting pic from the site:

It is supposedly of something called tree gnarling, where strange faces show up on trees. I thought that it was pretty cool.

Thanks for showing me that before I go to sleep!

That's no haunted tree. That's treebeard. Come on.

Yeah, I thought that it was kind of creepy too.

That site is pretty interesting. I've contemplated going into folklore research myself, because it goes hand in hand with Anthropology. I always thought it would be interesting to document urban myths. You know, like in Candyman. But the thought of ending up gutted pretty much convinced me to check out Ethnomusicology instead.

Has anyone here actually seen this Tree Gnarling bit? That's just some very cool stuff right there.

On Halloween the Harvestman presides over an event known as the Dark Harvest. The Harvestman is most often described as a scarecrow like figure with a full coat and hat, seen at the cross roads in rural areas, in old barns, or in the woods and fields at twilight. It is said to have a particular cry.
Seems like where the idea for Jeepers Creepers came from.

There's a new picture up with the tree gnarling. I thought that it was kind of cool. I don't know if it's fake or not, but the story sounded pretty convincing to me. I used to live in Louisville about the same time as he described and I have heard of some of those legends. (Never heard of the tree one though). Here's the newest photo:

I have to thank the guy who runs the first site on this thread- he's inspired me to write about 10 Call of Cthulhu RPG scenarios.

There's some new stuff on the site including this:
<a href="http://host78.ipowerweb.com/~hauntedg/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=2&t=21&s=07901211a3b227ee846a5a e0764f9be8" target="_blank">http://host78.ipowerweb.com/~hauntedg/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=2&t=21&s=07901211a3b227ee846a5a e0764f9be8</a>

I don't know about this thing. It sounds a bit like an Ewok in heat to me. What do you all think?

I visited the site..read the story. Sounds like Jeepers Hollow to me...the bastard son of Jeepers Creepers and Sleepy Hollow. I live in the south and I have NEVER heard of this supposed myth. I reserve judgement however. Still this is a little too movieish/bookish sounding for my likes. It sounds like The Harvestman might make a decent movie monster wink ...or maybe he already has. Then again this could be some rural legend...but Harvestman? Ebolith? Dark Harvest? I did searches Harvestman/Harvester and Ebolith with folklore online. I found ZERO info other than this fellow's website and scientific entrys on an insect we call "Gran Daddy Long Legs" around here. I found zero entrys for Ebolith. Ah well.
I emailed some people that will know for sure.

Oh and that mp3 sounded like someone was raping a pig. Like someone had roped and raped a pig. Roped and raped a pig in a sheet...with red stains on it.

This is what I can tell you...
I don't think that it is a movie. I have heard nothing of any horror films being shot around here.I usually know these things wink If it is a gag it would make a pretty cool flick though.

Some of the stories are definitely true, or based on stories that I have heard of. There is a Sleepy Hollow outside of Louisville with lots of weird legends. I don't really remember exactly where it is, I just remember there being a dam there or something like it. I've also heard about the Fox theatre ghost and the Tate Manor thing as well. I have never heard of any legend of the Harvestman, though. Who knows?

I am interested to see where this all leads.
