Left 4 Dead 2 - Page 3

I liked the first game but I'm more addicted to Nazi Zombies at the moment so I won't be getting the sequel especially since my time will be taken up with MW2. Also the PC version will be the better choice and I no longer game on my PC.

Ashes. Ashes. They all fall down. Gabe Newell is a modern day Mack-a-velly.
Ah PC gamers, always good for a laugh.

Hey, at least we're literate.

L4D mod. Personally, I think it's creepier than the actual game.
I haven't clicked on that link yet. If it's video of the Teletubbies mod that just came out, you bet your ass that it's creepy as hell. I love that some of them have "zombie eyes" and blood coming out their cute little mouths.

EDIT: Thought so.
Holy crap that's terrifying...
Oh fuck you, I can't unsee that. The sounds they're making, which are so whimsical on television, are fuck-all unholy when put into that context.
Aren't we getting a Crash Course in a certain subject tommorow?
Looks like either tomorrow or Wednesday. The GWF with Paramoure specifically mentions that level.
We need a roll call of who'll be showing up for the zombie slaughtering.
Ill be there as long as they have a copy to rent.
OOh, I'll do it if I can game with Paramoure.

I don't get why they advertise that. I'd think playing with Paramoure would be punishment for shoplifting in some countries.

One of the new achievements:

Quote:
GUARDIN' GNOME - 30
Rescue Gnome Chompski from the Carnival.
Excellent.
The last two campaigns have been revealed at IGN. So, we have a swamp, a carnival, an industrial complex, a mall, and New Orleans. Sounds good to me!

THE REAL DEAL - 35
Survive a campaign on Expert skill with Realism mode enabled.
Wha?
I'm guessing it's hard.
I know they're both super obvious, but the inclusion of the Carnival and Mall campaigns have me very excited.

Demo's available for anyone who preordered!
I assume the demo is only off of steam?
I would assume that its Steam only, I'm getting this game..but I'm going to wait till Christmas...yay for gift money!
The marketing campaign for this game has been exceptional. Both of the trailers are action-packed, well edited, and great fun. Can't wait for this game. I am going to play the hell out of MW2 (even including MP), but with friends...I'd rather play L4D2.

Valve is amazing..hope they keep this up for every game they birth out.

Nope- I think gamestop has a deal. I'm downloading the 360 version right now- 1.7 gigs. These demo sizes are killing me! But that at least gives me hope for an intro movie here...
Intro movie included!

Only two levels from The Parish campaign (and no Versus mode in the demo), but when it's this goddamn fun, that's more than enough.

It's gonna be a long three weeks.

No Cricket bat on the demo, Alex?

Haven't found it if it is! I've found different shotguns, machine guns and sniper rifles each time, though. There's one sniper rifle that makes the other one worthless... semi automatic!

One fun thing to try- go work the jukebox on the first level.
Nice article Alex, thanks for the details.

I'm happy to learn that melee weapons replace the pistols. I'd misunderstood that melee weapons acted as a third weapon that prevented you from switching unless you dropped it, kinda like picking up a turret gun in Halo 3.

The boomer bile jar is a great idea.

Played through again and recorded a video, here's the first part- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSieZvrJFjk

Second's uploading right now. Was getting more acquainted with the melee weapons, as you can see. It's interesting to note that the range for each is different... hence all the swiffing I did with the machete. Guitar has a lot more range but did less damage.
I never knew an electric guitar could sever heads.
Well, the "unique" demo code e-mailed to me "has already been redeemed". Thanks Gamestop.

You gotta love Nick's dialogue when you're being chased by the witch.

Had a chance to play through the demo. A few thoughts.

1.)The sunlight is jarring. Thus far, I don't like it. Could just be I'm a critter of habit.

2.)The two levels they chose for the demo are boring, and really have almost no flavor to them. Hopefully, it's just those two levels.

3.)melee weapons represent an awesome tactical decision as opposed to pistols. The fact that you can hurt your teammates will prevent "corner camping."

4.)I do not know how the spawning patterns will work, but the charger and spitter need to be infrequent spawners in versus. It's early, but I'd like to think my instincts in re: left 4 dead are pretty good. And if the spitter plays in versus the way it does in single player it is going to be horribly overpowered. The charger, if it doesn't have a meter like a tank, is going to fuck people up.

5.)I have a gut feeling this game is going to be way harder for the human team in versus than the original was.

6.)Having to move to turn off alarms and stop a horde is a great addition. Be prepared for people running like crazy if they kill 3-4 of the special infected so they can try to turn alarm off before they respawn.

7.)I dislike the voices for three of the four characters. Maybe they'll grow on me.

8.)Love the "heft" and feel of the new weapons.

9.)it seemed much harder to crown the witch. Don't know if she reacts more quickly, they boostered her, or what. She also seems to be always standing, rather than sitting.

10.) the "boomer vials" you can throw are friggin' sweet.

11.)The adrenalin seems worthless except in very narrow circumstances.

For some reason, this look very, very familiar.

There are a ton of little easter eggs like that in the first one too. Basically a postapocalyptic version of messageboards.

I noticed a whole lot of messages crying against "CEDA" in New Orleans... asking where they where, saying that they blow, etc. Check the very beginning of the second level video for some grafitti.
There is an interesting video up on youtube showing exactly what Valve had to do to get L4D2 approved by Australian Censorship board.

I not sure exactly what to think about the censoring because, while the visuals are different the gameplay looks pretty untouched, my only real beef is that zombies can't be shown to be on fire which will make the game more difficult if it means that fire will stop doing steady damage to the special infected once they wander out of the blaze.

Personally the one aspect I really like about the censored version is that the screen looks less cluttered. I'm not that big of a fan of the blood getting on the camera lens look, it makes me want to wipe my glasses clean.
Love the new music and the little twists on all the old tunes. Felt great to get that anxiety rush when running through the fences to turn off that alarm. I ended up using the magnum for nearly the whole demo. The sound effect is great and obviously packs one hell of a punch.

Just played the PC Demo. Wow. Looks fucking amazing fully cranked up. On 360 everything is just a blurry mess compared to it. My old lady even noticed and said something about how much better it looked. I might just have to get 2 copys.

Any ideas on if they have made the mods for the first one playable on the sequel? I know they were working on it before. If possible, it would be a guarantee PC buy.
Oh my god this is downloading SOOOO SLOOOOOW.

Wonder how much I can level in Borderlands before it completes...
I kind of found the demo to be really fucking dull. Maybe it’s because I played Left 4 Dead so much but aside from the brief joy of macheteing fools it just seemed utterly joyless and kind of monotonous. Still at least it’s saved me $80 this year.
Christ, you're just trying to make it easy for us at this point.
My only complaint so far is that the online campaign is laggy as hell. I'm losing the majority of my health to teammates shooting me in the back by accident.
