Time To Get [rec]ed Again

Looks an awful lot like live-action Counterstrike with monsters.

Some really good shots in there for certain (two words: arterial spray), but I can't push past the notion that I'm watching footage from a video-game. Still, this should be dispelled by watching the actual movie. I'm not convinced that [REC] 2 is needed but it looks like it could be bloody good and intense fun.

I would agree that this isn't really needed. I'm not sure how they are going to get across a good sense of terror with a team of fully armed officers. Perhaps maybe the scenes in he teaser are just the beginning and things spill out to the streets?

Looks like it's set right after the first. Would that be the firemen from the 1st that I saw?

And I like the fact that it's not zombies, but demons.

Pretty good teaser, and I dug the RE4 "over the shoulder" camera angle. My interest in this has peaked. Especially since I really dug the remake, which is essentially the same as [Rec], which I'll still end up buying anyway.

They're going all Aliens on it. That's to be expected now I guess.

The familiar setting is unfortunate, but I really enjoyed REC. so I might as well give this one a chance too.

Guh? Really? So, they changed it for the American version? Weird, because, while I haven't seen the original (obviously), my understanding was that the remake was almost identical. Interesting.

I haven't seen the remake, but in the original the survivor girl and her camerman make it to the top floor and find a bunch of notes about a 'possessed' girl and the attempted, and presumably, failed exorcism of her.

In the remake, the infected are the product of [spoiler, I guess] a mutated strain of the rabies virus [/spoiler]. Huh, I wonder why they scrapped that plot point. To streamline the movie, remove extraneous storylines, I guess.

I thought it was quite quaint for the original to take a slightly more traditional route of making it slightly supernatural, and avoiding the recent trend of making "the infected" simply the victim of a virus.

It felt refreshing. The rapid history they built up around the thing as they entered the room is astonishing, the entire history thrown at you at once almost seemed credible.

I always felt it was ambiguous, that maybe the guy at the top floor mistakenly thought the virus was demonic possession.

Maybe, but the remake made it clear it's a virus. The original was about demonic possession, and the fact that it's a virus that causes it. And that's what I really liked about it. It's a small detail, but as noted above, it's setting a bit further that an average "infected" movie.

And IMDB confirmed that most of the original crew will be there. Most very likely as demons or infected or whatever..

The demoinc possession angle was what made the film interesting to me as well.
I suppose the sequal could work if they built heavily on that, but the trailer doesn't seem to suggest it.
