I like Funhouse, even if the first ten minutes make me feel like a pedo stalker, but I agree that the last half kinda sucks. I love the idea of turning the end into an extended EC comics final frame of gruesome.

I can't help but like Eli Roth. Even when I don't like one of his movies, I know his heart's in the right place and the guy seems genuinely in love with horror movies. And he defnintely won't be stepping on any toes by remaking Funhouse. It's one of those horror movies everyone's seen, but nobody loves.

Bang. I half-expected Chris Hansen to knock on my door during that shower scene. Let's see that shit get made today.

Funhouse - only film with a toe in the teen slasher genre that Rick Baker ever went near. Love that makeup.

Love the original, but completely agree that the last half needed a reworking. Pretty weak kills, and what Roth has in store, I'll be there in the theater to see the remake.

Although, the end where Berridge is in the bottom of the funhouse, and has to fight with the creature is pretty scary.

He could even show the creature being born, and then as Conway mentions in the finished film, that the twin brother of the creature is the one that all the kids see in the freakshow.

Didn't the novelization go into greater detail on the barker, and his son?

I can get behind this remake. The original has a cool creature design and some greasy carnival atmosphere, but that's about it.

Roth could really amp the sleaze factor that's inherent in most local carnivals and deliver something truly nasty, I hope.

Recently stumbled over this very visually thorough blog posting about the original Fun House. No shower screencaps, you dirty peds.

I've been wondering for years when this would get remade. Not a classic by any stretch, but I remember enjoying it well enough when I was younger. The atmosphere was really good, but the kills were a big let down even for a wee little shaver of 13. Eli and TF could be a perfect fit if he actually gets to make the film he's envisioned. Snot 'em up!
