How do I not remember this comic? That was the time when I was at my comic book reading zenith, as well, and this does not ring a bell. Anyway, sounds interesting, and I might hunt it down if it's in trade format. I'll be looking forward to the film with cautious optimism.

Same here, and that's back when I would buy anything that Simon Bisley was involved with(even if it was just a cover).

PG-13 zombies don't sound too enticing, but I know fuck-all about the comic, so who knows.

When you said "King Zombie" comic I thought you were going to mention the part about the zombie humping a cow. But yeah, apparently that was called "Zombie King".

I read a bunch of these comics. Dead Killer > King Zombie

The Walking Dead is unreadable?

Fine, I'll take the bait. How is it unreadable? Character-focused, leisurely-paced and better in trade format, fine. But unreadable? Really?

The story turns to shit after the first few issues.

I have to agree with Devin. The first 4 tpb's have some of the dumbest writing for a popular book, that I've ever seen. However, between tpb's 5-6, it becomes epic awesomeness.

The introduction of The Governor, makes the story become very addictive. The flip flopping moral logic makes me crazy at times. It's dumb, and makes no sense in the circumstances they are in.

I've never read Deadworld. I don't like zombie's with more motivation than 'Chase, kill, eat.'

I'll agree that Walking Dead has has a couple of rough patches here and there, however saying it's unreadable is just silly.
For the most part I do kind of miss the original style of art work though.

Never the less; despite Devin's half-assed putting down of WD I will check out Dead World.

Still hoping for a Walking Dead HBO series though....... (in black and white..yeah right...)

I read the first four Walking Dead TPBs and Kirkman had already made his point half-way through them. I gave up once I gathered that he had no intention of moving on. Had he stopped the story with the survivors having some sort of semi-sustainable restricted existence by keeping themselves in the prison I'd be much more favorable towards Walking Dead.

Soooo...did you read through the entire prison arc? Because that's the best arc that's occurred in the series. The climax was shocking in my opinion.

Yes, I did. I gave up shortly after that.

I felt like the story dwelled on the prison a bit too long, but the ending was insane. And the story takes different directions because it's not an action story or a movie. It's an open-ended zombie story with characters who make stupid decisions and then deal with the consequences. I love the fact that there are no heroes or villians - just a bunch of fucked up people in a fucked up situation, and anyone can die at any time. If a zombie apocalypse ever happened, people would have all kinds of stories. This book just happens to follow one of them.

And now the status quo has changed completely (or at least it has since the last trade). How is everyone reading this book? Single issues or trades?

I'm just surprised, is all. It's zombies, it's not another Marvel/DC superhero book, it's critically acclaimed. You guys are hard to please.

I'm glad Devin called out TWD for what it really is. The early trades rely on silly coincidences and copying the best moments from great zombie films, and all of the characters- even the the kid in the new issue- speak with the same expository voice. The bit with "The Governor" was ridiculous beyond belief, even introducing some torture porn into the series. I'm actually surprised so many people have fallen for Kirkman's junk, it's pretty much hack work.
