Foreign Film Mall Kiosks

There's at least two of them at the Mall of America the last time I went, and I've seen them at smaller malls, too. The one I passed was showing Ong Bak 2, which they've had for about a month. Are these guys legit?

Did you check if there bootlegs or not? Also keep in mind that you can buy import DVDs Stateside too, even Amazon has some. Just to let you know, there are people who own region free DVD players. It depends on what your interests are (British comedy shows, anime, obscure foreign films).

Rosedale has one too. They're HK discs, so they're technically not bootlegs, but I'm pretty sure it's not entirely legal to sell anything that's otherwise available in the States. I'm not clear on the whole thing.

I wonder when they'll start getting bootlegs?

These were around and petered out a couple years ago in East Coast suburbia. Lots of bootleg kung fu, and the only brick and mortar place I've ever seen selling Ghetto Scraps.

"THE MOST CONTROVERSIAL VIDEO IN THE COUNTRY" has now been CAUGHT ON TAPE!

If that ONG BAK 2 has English subtitles it's either a bootleg or Malaysian. The HK release isn't subtitled in English. Since Magnolia's not sending it to theaters in any meaningful way (limited release, a couple of months after they send it to PPV), and they aren't even dumping it to PPV until September, I'll be on the lookout for one of these things because fuck them. They should have had this out months ago.

I got a pretty fantastic deal from one of these dudes, peddling kung-fu flicks at the local mall; ended up buying like 20 films for something like $90, down from the original 2 for $25 the guy was trying to hook me with. Most of them were straight-up jacks of the recent Celestial remasters of Shaw Bros. flicks, so they looked pretty fantastic, but they come with poor quality dubs that leave a lot to be desired. Still, for the price it was totally worth it.

EDIT - There are also some hole-in-the-wall places in NYC that sell the same sorts of discs, usually around $8-10 a pop. Unfortunately none carry the boot of Coonskin I've been searching for for months (but I did find a shitty version of Boss Nigger! And no, it wasn't worth even a paltry $5).

Well you are in luck Dark Shake. Here is a website that sells Coonskin for 15.

They also have the 5-hour rough cut of apocalypse now and Boss Nigger. all of their dvd's are good quality.

Wait, the five hour long cut of AP? Holy shit, have you seen it? Is it acceptable quality? I own Boss Nigger (another cheapie boot) and the quality for that one is noticably low compared to my others; it looks like it was poorly taped off a misframed, worn VHS. Is AP the same?
