Joe Buck Live on HBO

Sweet Jesus!

I don't think that there has ever been a television host that has had a lower level of charisma than Joe Buck.

His jokes were terrible and his delivery somehow made them even worse.

The only saving grace was Artie Lange basically throwing a multi-minute expletive laced hand grenade into Buck's lifeless "funnyman roundtable" at the end of the show. The look on Joe B's face was was priceless.

The 10 or so minutes I saw was a huge trainwreck. He was completely lost with Artie. Don't blame him if your show is never on the air again.

"Speaking of batters, here's Barry Larkin."

Pretty much unwatchable save for Artie.

Is this a surprise? The guy's an incredibly boring and stuffy sports play-by-play guy, it stands to reason he'd be boring and stuffy in other environments as well.

He and Troy Aikman can manage to make a week 17 NFL game with playoff spots on the line feel like a shopping channel special on porcelain dogs.

Here's the clip that aired after the show on HBO's website. Brutal.

Has anyone seen that dopey Father's Day Budweiser commercial featuring Buck? The guy can't even seem sincere about his own dad.

That Commercial is horrendous.

Bartender: Hey Joe Buck! If you could have a beer with anyone, who would it be?
Joe: MY DAD.

How will this sell beer??

The only person I dislike more than Brett "me me me me me!" Favre is Joe "boring condescending boring condescending" Buck. If a meteor had hit that studio I would have been thrilled.

The one good quality about Joe Buck is that he isn't as much a smug little prick as Bob Costas.

Artie was on fire. Joe Buck is a tool unless he's acting as a cypher for Conan.

The best part was Sports Guy Bill Simmons tweeting during and after the Artie incident (note: Simmons is very vocal about his anti-Joe Buck stance):

Quote:
Ladies and gentlemen, the Joe Buck "Artie Lange is ruining my show and my career might never recover!" Face. I'm so happy.
Quote:
Joe Buck to Artie: "You're going to pull me into a dark place in about one more minute, and it's not going to be good." Is today Dec. 25th?

Love the HBO/Buck spin control today. They put Artie Lange on live cable TV + can't believe it got out of control. Really? How dumb are you?

"Next on HBO: Michael Vick's pit bulls play nicely with little kids!" Wait what's happening? Why are they attacking the kids?

Joe Buck diary entry today: "Plans to be next Costas dashed. Looking at 5 more years w/ McCarver. F*ck!"

More from Joe Buck's diary: "Still disappointed the audience didn't eat up that Pauly Shore joke. My 1997 comedy jokebook said that would kill

Buck's just pouting that Artie probably offended his way into a network deal.

Artie makes Buck look like an even bigger douche than he actually is.

I guess you guys must be Stern fans cause i find Artie Lang unbearable. I'm no fan of Joe Buck but Lang is as annoying as Buck is unlistenable.

They could have used the Joe Buck money to bring back a 3rd season of Carnivale.

I'm neither a Stern nor an Artie fan; however, I am a HUGE fan of live TV trainwrecks.

I'm an Artie fan, no problem copping to that. He's one of those rare comics who can repeat the same joke over and over and still get me to chuckle. I don't know how many times I've heard him do the whole "Romo rhymes with homo" shtick, but I guess he can keep on doing it because it's still quite giggle-inducing.
