Weeds Season 5

This show will never change, its setups are sometimes almost realistic except for the dialogue, the payoffs are often like a sitcom. But some of the actors are so good with the lines.

Two interesting things: one, five minutes passed between this season and the last, and in them, the youngest Botwin son grew a foot, lost his baby fat, and changed his voice. I always disliked that the Lost producers dropped Walt, because I feel I could suspend my disbelief and also that some reason could be jerry-rigged on the island, but yeah, maybe they were right. This was ridiculous. But more interesting than the show.

And two, Jennifer Jason Leigh, playing Nancy's sister. She's queen of being game for things that half-work, and she's kind of badass, and a natural fit. Her vocal inflections in her first scene reminded me of her accents in Miami Blues and Hudsucker Proxy, or maybe I shouldn't mention those, as it's Weeds.

You know, I dumped this show after season 2, skipped 3 altogether and somehow 4 on bluray roped me back in. It feels a lot like nip/tuck lately in its ridiculousness but Doug and Andy are always good for a laugh or two.

They should ditch Celia though, her storylines rarely interest me.

This show sucks. It used to be half decent but it just bottomed out more or less when Nancy stopped dealing pot and started whatever the fuck she is doing these days.
If you watch it as the Doug And Andy show it can be less painful but I think I'm done with it. I watched the first two episodes from Season Five and didn't get through the second episode.

The episode from this week was really good. The best they've had in quite a while, I think. Any time they take the focus away from Nancy, it's a good thing. In fact, I think they should just kill Nancy off and focus on Silas trying to get his business up and running. Andy, Doug, and Shane carry the show anyway.

Everyone stopped posting, but i've been watching and it's getting more and more hilarious as it goes. Ignacio may be one of the best characters the show's ever had.

It's like for the last 5 episodes they cranked the insanity to maximum levels and never let go. Way better than last two seasons!

This season has been very very good. It's so crazy. I'm impressed how the show has been able to spin the premise of the show in new directions. It's not that Nancy puts her family in danger by selling drugs now --- she puts them in danger period. Andy is too funny. Great writing.

I thought it started pretty poor but the last few episodes have been great. Ignacio's expanded role is the best addition to the show in a long time. Alanis can go screw but I suppose they need to give Andy something else to do other than pine after Nancy.

Holy shit.

I'd been losing interest in this show as it became more and more obvious how horrible of a person the main character is, but that ending definitely succeeded in making me want desperately to see the next episode... err, season.

I've still been interested but less as a "Must See" TV and more as a "When I have a chance" TV but man o man. I loved the finale.

I was floored by the last 40 seconds. I figured the dude would turn on Nancy but I was not expecting the resolution AT all.

I can't believe Andy ran! I don't see that relationship working out...

Ugh. so long until the next episode.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's a dealbreaker. There is no graceful recovery from leaving your girl in the hands of a madman.

At least she can get her revenge by referencing him in a song.

I gave up on this show after season 3. What had started out as a dramedy based upon real life struggles someone in nancy's situation would go through quickly became "wacky" and "fun" because thats what people who watched the show wanted right? People who like marijuana do not care about human drama, or relatable situations. They want crazy nonsense they do not have to think too much about!

Is it at all worth it to get into this show again? I felt so dispirited with the shows direction and writing that its hard to believe it could ever be as good as season 1 again. Am I wrong?

It's not great, but it's moderately fun and you can blow through a season in a couple sittings on DVD. So I watch, but for Andy and Doug.

Andy was the best part of the show for me in Season 1 (Aside from ms parker) but I just feel the writers put him in stranger and weirder situations untill it was hard for me to care since the reality of his character was so removed from anything that reminds me of the real world .( The girl with the eskimo stalker, the foot career thing , etc)

I was blowing through seasons 2 and 3, but then I got so fed up with it I quit. Did it continue its downward slide or has it not improved. If seasons 4 and 5 are better than three I might be interested again.

What a crazy finale. Shane has all the makings of a young Dexter Morgan.

Wow, that Morissette, such a jagged little pill.

(I know, it was bad)

Yeah, loved the last scene. The rest of it was kinda weak. THe resolution to Adelita didn't make any sense, why even introduce the character?
