So it doesn't get buried in the other thread- http://chud.com/articles/articles/19...AME/Page1.html

Wii review coming up!
7 seems high. I do enjoy the dialogue but it's not worth it for lousy gameplay.

A 7-only-if-you-rent-it seems about right.

I fall into the same trap as Devin with number scores all the time- a 7's more of an average rating for me than, say, a 5. Fucking scores.

I think it's definitely worth playing, and has some fun mechanics, but it is in no way worth 60 bucks.

Yeah, I feel kinda suckered. This was one game I was really wanting to buy instead of rent, and I should have known better. I normally do better with blind game purchases - I'm enjoying the shit out of both inFamous and Prototype right now - so I'm kicking myself a little bit.

I hear ya... and nostalgia's a bitch. Would have bought it myself if I didn't get a review copy.

Also, there were a lot of little nagging issues with the game that wouldn't have fit in the review- like how the slime tether sounds like a great idea at first, until you just realize it's simply a trigger for puzzles. Or how they blatantly tease you about driving the Ecto-1.

Btw: I've already received hate mail for this! That might have been a new time record.

Yeah, I'll wait for a Steam weekend special somewhere down the line, just to fuck around with the single-player on a good pc. Glad I held off on an impulse buy.

Nice review, Alex.

Huh. Just saw that it's only 30 bucks on Steam, which is a much easier pill to swallow. Still a bit high for the game, and you have to consider that there's no multiplayer, for the little that's worth to the experience.

Do you think you guys are being too harsh on the game? Sure it's not the best game ever made but I do find myself having a lot of fun with it. Do you think that maybe you set you expectations to unfair levels?

I'll admit, I'm not far into the game yet (I just battled the grey lady) and the story hasnt "wowed" me yet but I I'm really enjoying the experience.

Can't speak for everyone else, but my expectations weren't too high, especially after demoing it at the NYCC.

You're still early into it, you'll see- the game is very fun for the first few hours but you'll start repeating things and realize how shallow it all is.

Relic, the shine will wear off the apple by the time you hit the next boss. At least, that's where it happened to me. No idea of where to go coupled with a terrible boss fight kind of kicked me in the junk. The thing that will keep me in the game is how fun it is to fight the regular ghosts.

Good review, Alex. If I had it to do over again, I'd probably wait for a price drop. $30 seems like a good price.

Great job on the review, Alex. I'm glad that I held off on buying this.

Hey, good for the Wii!

Big bright and colorful,
pfh, I demand all my games be muted brown.

Glad to hear that the Wii version is, I can't believe it's said...better (well, at least numerically). Was on the fence about it, what with The Conduit about to officially own my life on Tuesday, but this looks like a fun, well realized game, something the Wii needs.

It's better in almost every way. It really is. I'm probably going to get rid of the 360 version of the game but I think I'll hang onto the Wii one.

And yeah, Conduit next week means that I hope my Wii doesn't die for some much use after months of nothing.
I'm still liking my 360 version a lot, but I can't deny a lot of the stuff mentioned in this review makes me a little envious of the little white exercise machine for once.

Good for the Wii, indeed.

I kind of had a problem with the proton beam. It was awesome when you had baddies in a capture stream, but otherwise it was so...

Alex-

Here's the question though. If someone has a PS2 or backwards compatible PS3 and no Wii, is the better level design and cartoon visuals, but no co-op worth $20, which is what the PS2 version offers and is retailing for? Or are the Wii's controls what really add to the experience?
I have yet to try the Wii version, and i'm sure it will be good, but I have to strongly disagree with most people's stance on the next-gen versions. I don't even think I was blinded by nostalgia- I think it's a solid game....repetitive in some spots maybe, control issues in other spots sure, but a 7? I'm proud to have this in my library. Keeper for me.

But for me, bottom line is that if you're a Ghostbusters fan you need to buy this. Simple as that. As a newcomer it's still fun but I can see only as a rental for folks like that. But seriously, who doesn't love the Ghostbusters?

That's a really good question. For 20 bucks, it's probably worth it, but even with the gimmicky moments the wii remote aiming really shines for this game.... and co-op is the only thing that really gives it any replay value. Still, even with regular old analog controls it's probably fun. Not sure how it's implemented, though (if you simply have to hold a direction to slam a ghost against a wall to stun it, for instance) so it could all lead up to the controls.
