TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN Post Release - Page 2

It seems people who enjoyed the first one are finding the second to be as punishing an experience as I found the original. At least when this blows the doors off the box office I might be able to find some respite in the idea that many of the people who pay to see it will have the terrible time they deserve.
I don't get why the Bay bragged how he literally signed off on the last vfx shots a couple of hours before the Japanese premiere.
They should force a director to spend less time unnerving the cg artists and more time in the editing suite to trim the fat off the movie.

These types of movies seem to start to get over the heads of the executives so they just give the director free reign. Think about it: The plot is paperthin, the characters cartoons and the action more or less a videogame - you need a crowd of <30 year olds to really comment or critizise something like that.

Just got back from seeing it.

Underwhelmed isn't the right word.

I know exactly what Devin means though, the film is AT LEAST an hour longer than it needs to be. I was semi enjoying it once John Tuturro turns up, but then we have a Cockney robot to deal with and an hour of people running/shouting at each other/running some more.

I never thought I'd get tired of seeing Robots fight, but the best one comes about halfway through the film (The fight in the woods).

Thankfully there's no Anthony Anderson subplot to deal with (And I usually like Anderson) but the twin jive talking caricatures are quite the sight to behold - one of them even has a gold tooth.
Jesus Christ. I thought the last movie was bloated (still can't believe all the love it gets). This ones even longer? Fuck that, I'll pass.

Eloquently put, sir.

I'm glad I didn't get tickets to the midnight showing.
Seems like my Bad Boys II concerns are justified. Now I regret having paid for a ticket already.

How long is the movie?

Ticket sold.

It's a whole 4 minutes longer than the first one.

But my Lord it feels so much more.

It's like Pirates of the Caribbean all over again. They're all roughly the same length but the second and third feel like they go on for days.

Plus there's a scene where a 'Bad Boys 2' poster takes up nearly half the screen. That sort of sums up Michael Bay.
If Bay was insane enough to actually have a black Transformer with a gold tooth, he might as well have done other racial stereotypes to boot (i.e. Jewish transformer, Asian transformer, etc.)

Here are the TWIN STUNNAZ from Transformers 2:

And for those that have seen the film, is it me or do they actually just vanish? There's a part where they team up and unless I missed something the fight just cuts away and we don't see them again.

A bunch of robots simply vanish at the end.
Oh, you can bring them back. By buying their action figures!
Didn't the same thing happen in the first movie? The last battle lacks a bunch of decepticons that were activated 15 minutes earlier. And the police car!
lol oh god

Am I gonna be walk into the IMAX next week and end up seeing a re-release of ROBOTS instead?!

Does Robin Williams do their voices? I wouldn't be surprised...

They look like the cross-eyed retard gremlin in Gremlin II: The New Batch.

Maybe they are in the Imax version.
I doubt that.
Ahh shitburgers, my friend has already booked tickets for an IMAX screening. And I need to pay petrol money to get there. If it's Wolverine bad then I'll have to start mentally preparing myself for some serious denial, just so I don't feel like I'm wasting my money.
hahahaha!

I love the fact that people were praising Bay for going with a more "realistic" and alien look for the robots, instead of the boxy G1 designs.

These things look even worse than Gobots, and they're still a mess to figure out.
I just sent Devin's Twitter entries to some friends who were REALLY looking forward to the movie. They are all in a state of petulant denial.

Mwa ha ha ha ah ha. I love it.
You're literally savouring their pain. You're like a bad villain or something.
Pretty much.

EDIT: But I think it balances out by the fact that I'm still the dope that's gonna be seeing it with them next week. Yea, I'm a pretty lame villain.

Bingo. I'm just surprised that the big, dumb action set-pieces could possibly have been dialled down this time rather than ramped up.
Yea, that's the only thing that I'm a tad bummed about. The only thing that made me look forward to a sequel to the first movie was that Bay would handle the robot action better.

Instead I hear that there's relatively less.

Now I really wish that amaaaazing new version of You've Got the Touch were used in the movie.
The pod race announcers look like a Leonardo Da Vinci against those twin retards.
I still have faith! I will proudly be plunking down my $14 hard earned dollars to see this in the pseudo-IMAX theater next weekend. I'm an unabashed defender of the first film which I loved so I have high hopes for this one. I don't want art, I want cheesy yet funny dialogue, sassy parents, big-ass explosions, robot fights up the ass, great SFX, Fox cleavage and military-porn. Please Bay, do not let me down damnit!

I've read multiple reviews claiming that the Twins are incredibly racially offensive. That could be who Devin's talking about.
So excuse my insensitivity, but the twins are supposed to be mentally challanged robots, or am I missing some racial stuff like Harley implied? I haven't noticed them in any TV spots or trailers(except for the dude who gets sucked into the giant robot vacuum in the trailer, who looks like a twin).
I'm seeing this for free Tuesday for a company screening, but I'm now wondering if I should make them pay me OT to sit through it.

They're the ones who saw "Aww naw naw, we don't do much readin' " in one ad.

The reviews that are starting to pop up over on Rotten Tomatoes are, for the most part, shitting all over it. It's at 38% fresh, and the positive reviews aren't all THAT positive.

I'll pass.
It's bad enough they do the horror movie cliche and kill off the one "black" robot in the last movie. Now they've got Car Car Binks?

This will be really interesting to see, if ROTF fails at the box office. That means Bay won't take a proposed year off; instead he'll be busy talking to Martin & Will for a BAD BOYS 3.

Hated the first film. From what I've seen of the trailers and now the reviews, it appears to be a "more of the same..." type sequel. No thanks. I too will pass.

Transformers isn't failing at the box office, guys. The least it's going to do is $150 million over five days. So the absolute lowest it can go is $300m domestic.
I'd be shocked if it didn't match the first film's box-office at the very least.

Some questions to ask yourself as you watch the movie:

(AND THIS IS A POST RELEASE THREAD SO SPOILERS)

- What/who is the Fallen getting revenge on?

- Why can only Optimus Prime kill The Fallen (since he's a Prime as well) but three Decepticons can kill Optimus?

- Why did the Fallen wait 3000 years to find the Matrix of Leadership, which was about three miles from the sun destroying machine?

- How does Jetfire open the back door of the Smithsonian and end up in California? How does Jetfire teleport Sam, Mikaela, the new roommate, John Turturro and Wheelie but have Bumblebee and the Twins show up in Egypt with them? Since fucking when could the Transformers teleport at will?
I've heard the reading comment and "UPGRAYEDDDDDDDDDDDD Time!" in the tv spots. They appear to be the Inbred retard twins of the film.

I was indifferent to the first film; nothing blew me away and nothing was so terrible as to make it unwatchable. The new film looks like it diminishes everything that DID work in the first film and emphasizes everything that underwhelmed me. I was honestly expecting the opposite to occur.

It will still make money, but it probably won't have the legs that the first one had.
They gotta bring in the "I... want-to-gooo SHOPPING!" Asian woman from Armageddon to do one of these robot voices!

I've already said this in the box office thread and gotten lambasted for it ... but this is not clearing $300 million.

Seriously. Two people have seen this, and it's already at 2 pages.
Come on, i was hoping this would be Transformers 1 with the camera pulled back at least a bit. I wasn't asking for much...
Regarding the military, I believe you have to pay for fuel/transportation and time (that was the rule for the Harriers in True Lies). And of course, they get to review your script, as discussed earlier.
