TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN Post Release - Page 20

Perhaps the Alan Dean Foster novelization of the Orci/Kurtzman/Kruger strike screenplay will explain all of our questions!

Who dares to read?!

So, there's some new photos of Megan and Bumblebee floating around. No one seems to know if they're from part 3, or if they're just filming some sort of skit for the MTV movie awards. The odd part is, Megan is very pale in the shots. Not all tan like she usually is for his Bayness. Maybe they're just storyboarding/blocking shots at the moment.

I saw them yesterday. I don't remember where, or I would sent them in as a scoop.

So I've been Blu-raying this spectacle up over the past few weeks and it's been growing on me. I'm not defending the film because there is every reason in the world for it to be labeled a bad movie. I just happen to be getting a kick out of how huge the spectacle is. The effects, the locations, the shots, the explosions, the sound... I can't help but enjoy it for what it is.

I remember when this thread started Devin was bitching about it's lack of action... this is insane to me. It's one thing to dislike the action within the film but to deny it's there is biased and silly. I'm about 1:12 into this viewing and it's been action packed up to this point. 14,000BC scene, Shanghai, mini-bots at the house, She-bot to helicopter picking up the car, capturing sam, rescuing sam, Cat-Bot at the base, Megatron resurection sinking a sub, 9-11 scene complete with shit blowing up and sinking aircraft carriers, Optimus* fight in the woods... and I'm probably missing a scene or two more. I'm not even half way through the movie!

Devin also complains that there is no action for an hour and I have just gotten to the beginning of where that's supposed to start... I remember this part lacking some action and needing a trim here and there but overall there is a huge solid 40 minutes left of action that I'm aware of and probably more that I'm forgetting.

I just have no idea where he's coming from saying this doesn't have action. It's dumb, sure but it's got action.

As one of the handful of people who dare admit to enjoying this monstrosity, I also thought that Devin's 'no action' comment was strange. But I think I understand why he would say that.

Michael Bay films everything like an action sequence and it's numbing. The 14,000 BC scene is exposition. I wouldn't even count that as an action sequence. It's just an info-dump playing like an action sequence. Most of the other scenes of action have no particular stakes or drive. Just an orgy of movement. And yeah, it's definitely a value judgement to say this.

It was definitely to the point where the only sequence I really consider to be ACTION was Prime's fight in the woods (which is actually where I say I got my money's worth for this horrible horrible movie). It was the only real stand-out sequence.

Anyway, I agree that the movie has lots of action. But the whole thing is paced so wonkily and incompetently that I can someone feeling like there wasn't any 'proper' action sequences for a while.

I hear you... I just don't really believe in the idea that only "proper" action is action. I feel like I know an action sequence when I see it (and yes, labeling that intial 14,000BC scene "action" was a stretch, I'll give you that). I don't like 90% of action movie sequences out there these days but I wouldn't dare say they weren't "action" because they didn't do it for me.

As a follow up to that actionless hour: The action begins ramping up about a half hour after the last big action sequence and from here on out there is about 40 minutes straight of shit getting blown up and bashed real good.

It's silly defending such a ridiculous movie but defending the fact that is has a ton of action is too easy to ignore.

Optimus... sorry. Muscle memory went to optimist and spell check doesn't bring it to my attention. Although Optimist Prime would be a great Tony Robbins transformer... maybe.

Saw this on cable this weekend.

Christ, what an offensive, reeking, putrid pile of racist, sexist, stupid horseshit. Spielberg, you oughta be ashamed to have your name anywhere near this thing. That Michael Bay parody poster we had here for a while was probably the very essence of understatement. This thing makes Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull look like Bergman.

I feel like my brain's been raped.

Jacob Singer, I didn't see anything...Offensive, in one of the best films of...2009! Transformers and Transformers Revenge Of The Fallen are terrific films with plenty of...Rock Em Sock Em Robot action and...Megan Fox! I cannot wait to...Transformers 3! I would love to see...Unicron as the villain.

Question: Does Megan Fox ever close her mouth in this film or are her lips forever parted in an "enter here" small "O" shape? I've sort of glanced at this thing on and off on HBO but have not found the heart to watch more than five minutes of it.

The way Bay handled Fox in that was one of a myriad of things that made watching that piece of shit so profoundly uncomfortable.
