McClellands is where it's at. I might have had some of that recently. Also, there ain't nuthin wrong with Dewars if you're poor like me. (Actually there might be something wrong with that)

I prefer neat, but there are some connoisseurs who say a a drop of water opens up the whiskey but my pallet is not that defined.

I agree on adding a couple of drops of water to the scotch. I don't know why, but it seems to activate the flavors for me.

Fancy a glass of this stuff?

I just bought a bottle of Dalwhinnie 15 y.o single malt...its quite good, and not very expensive either. Definitely check it out

This thread has been sadly dormant for a while.  I just picked up a bottle of Laphroaig 10 year and I gotta say, it's actually quite tasty.  Definitely a change of pace from my beloved Macallan, it's my first foray into the Isley Scotches.

On a side note, their Friend of Laphroaig program is kinda neat, I now have a lifetime lease on a square foot along the Killbride stream which, if I visit, I can claim the ground rent of a dram of their finest!

I've tried that, but I think it still tastes too peat-y.  The only peat taste I can say I've actually liked was in the Ardmore.

Is bourbon allowed in this thread? Woodford Reserve's bang for the buck is very hard to beat.

Just picked up a bottle of Glenkinchie 12 year, eager to sample a few glasses and pair it with a couple cigars this weekend.

been trying my hardest to get into Scotch.  Got a bottle of Glenlivet 18, and a bottle of Johhny Walker Green Label.  Figured I would buy a bottle of the single malt and a bottle of the blended.  I can drink a glass no problem, and enjoy it, but I just ache for a glass of Bourbon or even Jameson (my go to whiskey) anytime I take a sip.

I picked myself up a bottle of Laphroig Cask Strength Batch 2 for my birthday, goddamn it's wonderful!

Keeping on with Scotch definitely pays off, and if the early part of the thread didn't make it clear, get a bottle of MacCallan 12 Year, it's damn great for beginners and long timers, really a bottle you'll never out grow.

Damn, this Laphroig is some good shit, god bless Scotch!

Opened a bottle of Laphroig Quarter Keg this evening, closing out the leg of bottles my local store has from them, very nice.  To be honest, given my almost non-existent sense of smell, I can stick with the standard 10 year bottle going forward and not really notice a difference.  But definitely a fan of the Islay style.

I was going to pop on and say that I don't really dig the Islay scotches and that I said something similar in here a while ago, but then I look up and it's less than 10 replies ago.  We definitely need more discussion in here.

Ha, agreed.

When I was at the store yesterday, I did spot a bottle of Macallan 30 year.  I was only a mere $1200, I actually thought about buying it for a minute before I came to my senses.
