I'm pretty sure he's not actually banned yet. In the olden days, a banned person's name would turn blue and not link to anything if clicked on. Dark Shake's name above his post remains green and an active link to his profile. I think he just removed his avatar and changed his user text to "Banned".

No doubt there was dog-piling, but I'm fairly certain it was because he asked to be banned.

I would say that while some of us may have stomped off, we weren't prissy and asked to banned/deleted. Instances where that happened never ended well. Still, he was stomped on (not by me - too low of a post count to even acknowledge really - said ironically) and now we mourn the loss of The Dark Shape.

I'm not going to go dig up posts, but that's just not true. There are high-profile members and even site contributors that have had mini meltdowns ending with talk of deleting accounts and public threats of banning. I don't recall quite the hair trigger in the past.

Ehhh, you know you've been around a place long enough when most every conceivable scenario has already happened. I can name a few posters who promptly got banned after asking to be banned/deleted. Does it really matter? If he is a little wiser, he'll show back up under a different name and act a little differently (or at the very least won't ask to be banned).

If Devin had banning power, I imagine these boards would be a lot smaller. I'm not sure if that's a bad thing for the vision of the whole boards though, as I know Devin really wants these boards to be 95% focused on movie discussion, and a lot of people (myself CERTAINLY included) veer far away from that. However, because I do like these boards, I'm glad Devin doesn't have the authority,

As far as Dark Shake, I don't know, I can see why the guy got agitated enough to ask to be deleted. People stopped leaving him the option to discuss things normally after this thread.
