Dexter-The Book Series

I'll admit that I only sporadically follow the TV Series but i have read most of the Book series.

Just curious, but how do you compare the Book version of Dexter to the TV version. They introduced a weird Supernatural element to Dexter's "Dark Passenger" in the book series that really seemed out of place.

My favourite is Dearly Devoted Dexter- The Doakes Saga

Main Differences (Spoilers)

1) Debra knows about Dexter's activities (In the latest book).
2) Dexter's Serial Killer Brother is still alive (He Let him go)
3) The weird fate of Doakes in the book.

The TV show is far superior. Deborah at least progresses in the show. She's a fucking moron in the books. And the resolution to the Ice Truck killer in the show makes more sense and is more thematically satisfying in the show.

The books are shit. Occasionally funny, but thats about it. Only thing in the books that is slightly better is that Dexter is more of a sadist with his victims.

Yeah I much prefer the series to the books. I watched season one in it's entirety then sat down to read the series, first book wasn't all that bad, but the last two are way too wtf for me to continue with them. The supernatural angle in the third book was way off, and the kids being in on the act is sorta cool but it doesn't seem to be really going anywhere.
I'd have no problems recommending the first book to peeps and even sent a copy of it out as a gift awhile back but as for the rest; forget it.
