Completely unlike "Watchmen" in every regard: audience reception, critical reception and (this being my opinion, obviously) quality of filmmaking.

C'mon folks, I know this is CHUD and you have to love Snyder to prove your worth here (which would make me worthless), but comparing him or his film to Kubrick is just ridiculous.
100% agreed.
I just do not get this worship for Zack Synder. He made one filmed I really liked (The Dawn Of The Dead Remake) ,one I hated (300) and one I thought was a dissapointment (Watchmen).

Well, John Carpenter's The Thing was reviled when it was released in 1982, the year of E.T., by critics and audiences alike, made paltry box office, and is now considered a benchmark film and one of the greatest genre movies ever made. Some movies take time to be appreciated for what they are rather than being considered disappointments by the standards of what an audience projects at the time of release.

No one was doing a straight up comparison between the two films, as you suggest. Or saying Watchmen should, or will, be viewed in the same vein, or have the same cultural impact as A Clockwork Organge. So I'm not sure why you're getting so worked up. It was just loosely thrown around, like yt said, as an example of late recognition a film can receive.

And you definitely don't have to be a Snyder fan around here. Devin may love his work, but people, including myself, have been pissing on him too. I've always maintained 300 was embarrassingly bad. A dumb piece of shit. I would categorize it as exactly the kind of dumb movie people here have been lately complaining about, claiming it marks the lack of intelligence of film goers.

It's like I said before, I find it odd and ironic that, Zack Snyder, a man with zero subtlety or nuance, along with the lack of impact of his superhero film is being used as an example of the immaturity of the industry.

I wasn't getting worked up, I was just pointing out that "Clockwork" isn't really an example of a late bloomer when it comes to recognition as a great film.
