Hung

Jane Adams, Thomas Jane, Gregg Henry get their own show, the pilot directed by Alexander Payne? Wow. Liked the opening shots of Detroit and the other ways in which it reminded me of Election, except I hope it stays a little less broad than that and than what it is now.
Liked the opener. Coasts a lot on Jane's likability, but it will need more than that to keep it afloat during the course of a whole season. With it so far.

Overlord would love the first five minutes of the pilot.

I kind of wish they didn't pull the "yeah, he didn't really give that speech" switcheroo. I don't think it would have been out of place for him to really have said all that considering the low he had hit.
Enjoyed the first episode enough. Jane is charismatic as hell, so we'll see how far he can carry it.

Promising.

Why start a show when you're just going to take the next week off? Right, so they were worried about putting a new episode on during 4th of July weekend, but why even start the show the previous week. I guess it gives them An extra week for word of mouth, as if you couldn't watch it any number of times during the week. Was lookng forward to a new episode though.

I couldn't help but think about how Anne Heche and Tom Jane produced such ugly kids.
"Why can't they just fuck me for me?"

It's growing on me (tee-hee).

I thought Hung was going to be another hourlong after the pilot, but thirty minutes really is the perfect... length.

Heche is a perfect fit for the role, but beefing up her time onscreen without adding any complexity and keeping her one-note is not cool.
Loving it so far.

Jane trying to dance was the bees knees.
That part was great. His earnestness is really selling the show.

Do hope we get more Gregg Henry in the coming weeks.
The 30 minute run time kind of shocked me. I was expecting a full hour, so when it ended it felt abrupt and disjointed. Other than that, really liking it so far. Jane searching for his wallet was great. So damn easy to relate to that "where the fuck is my wallet/watch/shoe" when sneaking out.
I couldn't help but think "What kind of dipshit takes his wallet on an escort job?" But it fits the character perfectly. Also, I'm wondering who cancelled on him his first job. Bet that comes back to haunt him somehow. I thought at first it was his later pimp but it could be anybody truthfully.
I thought the same thing, BMetal.

I love the way Jane is playing this guy. I'm already fearing the inevitable crash that will happen once the guy starts making a name for himself as a manwhore.

"Good cock is hard to find."

The size of that hickey. Who was he boinking, Carly Simon?

Third episode was better. Heche stuff was concentrated in the specifics of a messed-up dog body, and getting scammed by his first client fits perfectly, as she was too good to be true. Also good: Ray's little hand motion when saying, "Try being a pimp now," and Adams' "Keep On Jogging" shirt.
Hey now, last episode ended with, probably, the best scene of the entire series so far.
The episodes are getting better but the show is still lacking. I'm willing to give it a few more episodes to reach a groove after the setup is complete, next week looks good.

My main gripe with this show is it isn't that funny. I remember back in the proverbial 'day' watching another HBO show that dealt with sex and humor and adult life and it was a blast and it was called Dream On. That was 1990 folks... there's a bar, hopefully they rise above it as the season progresses.

Anyone else think the son has the hots for the sister? or did I read that whole drive-in defending his sister scene wrong?

That's exactly how I read it. And I felt kind of dirty, worrying that I was the only one to see it that way. Thanks for not letting me go through this alone Snaieke.

I've caught a couple episodes of this show on hotel HBO while traveling and it's got potential. I couldn't help but feel surprised at the short running time. In the episodes I saw it felt like it was only half an episode.
I think it was more of a situation to show that Jane's son is a sensative pussy-type and that he is kind of weirded out by it because he is such a jock. Or he wants to screw his sister.. i dunno. "Pick on someone fatter than you" was pretty funny though.

Glad I wasn't alone and it sure does feel dirty! I'm all for pushing the envelope but... Eewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

I do like Jane in more things, it's a shame he's in this.. I'd love to see him as the new Rockford.
That's exactly how I read it too. I was scared I was crazy.
May not be laugh-out-loud funny, but after a few episodes I'm way more interested in what happens to Jane's character week-to-week than I am with anyone on Entourage.

I enjoy how Steve Hytner keeps showing up. Figured that was a character who wouldn't be around beyond the pilot. Glad I was wrong.
I liked that episode a lot. I actually laughed out loud when she walked away to call Tanya and he got the call to say "Just say you love her"

That was some good stuff tonight.

The show is really clicking now. Weird about the step-dad claiming poverty. Impressed that the show can strike my interest in such a tiny (to this point) character. The rented Jaguar was a great moment.

They didn't need that last Steve Hytner scene. We knew he was a creepy self-improvement counselor, we didn't need Adams to say it. He should have lingered endlessly and ratcheted up levels of awkwardness without ever stopping smiling, as with frogs and boiling water.

Fuck is Jemma going to DESTROY his life. This is going to be a harrowing ride.

No shit. She's a psycho X 1000. I just hope it doesn't urn into another Rescue Me. Seasons after season of hopelessness.

Such a good show. Jane is great, and those 2 kids are the ugliest in the history of television. Damn.

Definitely an interesting choice, especially since the parents aren't exactly ugly people. Still getting the incest vibe from the son though.

I laughed hard at Ray bursting into anger replying to Genna at the therapy session.

Is Greg Henry really bald and fat right now? Or is that just a great characterization?

I'm in for the rest of the season.

I think I saw him in something else recently and he looked just like he does in Hung. When I saw him, I went "Aw MAN".

Yeah, she's nuts. Ray isn't thinking straight with this girl. It will be interesting/horrifying to see his worlds collide.
And the head-fuckery begins. I didn't think she'd stand him up so soon. Poor Ray. Is it me, or was there just WAY too much Tanya last night? I like her, but in a much more limited capacity.
It was nice to see why Tanya is who she is, but my favorite part from last night was Ray trying to pimp himself out at the Farmer's Market.

Guess the show has been renewed. Cool.
The farmer's market stuff is was really great. When he grabbed the melons and gave that lady the creepy smile and asked about checking how firm they were, damn did I laugh. Jemma is going to ruin him, but I can't blame him. She is absolutely smoking. I was proud to find out the actress is from Houston, and according to her IMDB profile pictures, is outstanding in lacy outfits.
finally got caught up. its such a great premise but it could certainly be a bit funnier. each episode is better than the last so i have high hopes.

oh yea, and the neighbor's wife was SMOKIN'
I really didn't need to see Tanya's tits.
Wow at Greg Henry singing...
That was a nice surprise.

Loved Ray checking Lenore's $100 bills against the light before going down.
I was pretty amazed they showed nudity in that scene. She's going to be in the Eastwick show.
Yeah, that buffet scene really pushed the boundaries to near-porn level. My current fave TV show. Jane is the man, but we all knew that before.
I saw him having his ex as a client a mile away. Didn't end up the way I figured though. Still pretty clear the kid wants to fuck his sister.

You might want to check out a videogame called "GUN" (It is spelled all caps like that)

He provides the voice of the main character. He does a very able job and that game has some of the best voice work of any game. Lance Henriksen. Bradd Douriff, Ron Perlman, Wes Studi, Kris Kristofferson, and some other people I don't quite remember.

They've been setting that up for a while now, so for it to play out as it did was a nice way to wrap up the season.

It's a good show, but that just kind of cut off.

I would say that last scene was Jane coming to terms with his divorce and maybe Heche's last scene ever but for the husband inspecting the mole on his former classmate's crotch... Not that Heche wouldn't still share the kids, but... Things should have crashed and come to a head a little bit more. Lenore's a good permanent addition, if that's what's happening.
I'm a little bummed the show is over. I felt they were really going places... can't wait for when the next season starts.

I think the whole "his wife for a client" scene really works multiple ways. It shows that Lenore isn't good with the details, I mean... how the fuck do you get the guys ex-wife as a client? this could be where he shifts back to pure happiness consultants mode. It also reads as closure on their relationship. It vidicates his belief that she married the other guy for money and that she really is miserable in that relationship.

The honey sex scene by the way... pure gold.
That was the season finale? Felt that had 1000 different unresolved things !

Still, good episode. Their phone conversation was moving stuff. Great work by Jane there.

And seems like Tanya is ready to man up. Finally.

HBO's running the entire season for New Year's Eve, starting at 11:05pm Central.
