Entourage Season 6 - Page 2

Even Scrubs had character development.
Did it not for its first five seasons then suddenly start to?

Even Entourage in its first four seasons had obstacles and challenges for Vince, etc. Now everything's perfect again and it's boring. His part of the show does not make a compelling story. Ergo, it's not a good show.
I don't want drama and misery from the show, but I do think there is always more comic potential when things go horribly wrong. I don't want him sucking dick for blow, but seeing him have to settle on a horrible, empty studio pic (or even a TV show) could be milked for at least a season. At least pretend he has to make an effort to claw his way back into the big time, instead of just stumbling into it every season. I remember being pleased the first time things turned out ok for Vince and the guys, but it just doesn't ring true any more. I don't think it's out of the question to hope they mix up the formula every few seasons, instead of letting things go stale.
Something I didn't get tonight, was E and Ari looking at scripts. Vince keeps saying he is playing Enzo Ferrari , so are these scripts for afterward? Just bugged me tonight.
Figure that all has to do with their new philosophy of "Line 'em up." The Scorsese film has made Vince hot, so they're looking to cash in now and not worry about whatever impact the Ferrari movie will have on his career.

I've long given up on this show doing much to develop its characters, but I'd settle for the show to be funny again. It was funny before, right?
Yeah the more I think about it the more it is just the usual current practice of lining up 5 or 6 projects and just waiting for which ever one is greenlit first.
Good show tonight.
Last night's show was much better. The characters (again) have some obstacles and goals and, hopefully, working to achieve those goals will result in some comedic goings-on.

The Ari/Turtle stuff was interesting. In one scene they gave both characters a little more depth.
Yeah, I like last night too. They didn't shoehorn Drama in just to do it and every arc seemed natural. I usually hate E but even he was good last night.
E's new girlfriend is like nails on a chalkboard. I can't stand her.
I echo the E girlfriend hate... especially cause I LOVE Sloan, but I loved the Turtle dilemma.
So is E's new girlfriend supposed to help us understand the hatred she feels about Bow Wow's character? Because she is atrocious.
Hmm thank god this show is just fluff to me, cause it went no where. I mean when the seasons are so short, you can't waste episodes setting it all up. I really hope they don't blow their wad, cause if they're building up to something, it better be good.

Oh and I heard somewhere that the guy Turtle is based on died, so would HBO have the guts to kill him off?
She thinks Bow Wow sucks, we think she sucks.

Haha, how ironic.
i wonder how Bow Wow felt about them going that direction with his character?
I found it really odd that E's conversation w/ Bow Wow took place off-camera... they REALLY hate drama on this show, even when the situation seems to demand it!
yea no shit, that lack of bow wow scene really felt empty. whats the consolation, that E didn't stay on as producer? no intelligent manager would do that. if he really wants to break out from vince's shadow he should take what he can get.
I don't understand why E wouldn't try to keep him on as a writer or get him a consultant gig.

Also, I get a stalker vibe from E's new girl... am I crazy?

Looking forward to next weeks Drama episode, it's sad when you laugh more at the preview then the episode.
More importantly E's girlfriend just isn't very attractive. She looks practically emaciated.

I was thinking the same thing. Wouldn't the smart thing to do would be to bargain for Charlie to be head writer or showrunner?
E is attached to Charlie because he is only client (I say only because we haven't seen or heard shit from his others) and the show is based around friendship....realism wouldn't be integral to this theme in a scenario involving E being selfish. As far as a consultant gig, that may come in future episodes, but the drama is immediately centered on E's total failure as a manager, so Charlie has to fail completely without any options...at least for now. I wouldn't be surprised if later someone else snatches up Charlie for a more well known or more successful show.
The boys just got picked up for a 7th season.
Prediction that's probably too smart for this show: E gets Charlie together with the other writers that wrote Smokejumpers and they create a TV show together.

That was handled so stupidly, I'm almost ready to give up on the fucking show ... for the third or fourth time.

Dude, the guy didn't get the lead acting gig. Okay, that sucks. Part of your job as an agent/manager/lawyer/account/any professional is to manage your client's expectations and do what's best for his economic outlook, not what's best for his ego.

Get him a writing job on the show. Get a commitment that you won't raise a fuss if he's introduced as recurring guest character. Hell, stay on as producer and give him a cut of your producing income, maybe even half, if you feel like you owe him that. But, to torpedo your relationship with the studio with a vicious and insane diatribe, then quit and lose the producing money and any chance of getting your client on board later or giving him some of the cash, is just absolutely batshit insane.

Anyone else think Turtle was going to sell the car Vince gave him and use that to finance the business?

That could possibly be addressed in a future episode, don't be quick to write it off.

Even if it isn't, it's not like the show is realistic or anything.

Internal consistency is important, even in an unrealistic universe. E has been built as a budding manager/agent/entrepreuner, with a bit of a calculating side (look at how he played on a perception of naivete during the Storm Jumpers negotiations).

To throw that aside and have him act as a feckless halfwit for no reason whatsoever, as it wasn't even a good scene since Kevin Connely couldn't act his way out of a paper bag and his Ari Goldberg impression was laughable, is awful, awful writing.
Again, we don't know what's coming down the pike...you shouldn't write it off in a 26 minute episode...there are plenty of them coming. I'm not saying they'll fix it, but I am saying this kind of thing has happened before in past seasons, where something stupid happens and plays itself out later. So I don't see what the point in writing it off is...not to mention most people don't know what the fuck a manager does anyway, so they're not trying to please them.

The whole point is:

Charlie isn't liked and gets booted + E needs to make a tough decision = drama

There's not much drama in him pulling his client back into the show and saving his ass (that comes in the season finale when everything gets wrapped into a neat little bow)
Mediocre episode. This show is starting to bore the shit out of me (next week's episode looks really lame). I don't care about these guys anymore or what they want. The only interesting thing going on is Andrew Klein's breakdown.

And will E's new girlfriend please return to her home planet...she looks like an alien.
So, last week everyone wanted to advance their lives, then Turtle spends a week shopping for clothes and Eric gives up. What a schizo show.
Yeah it seemed to coast on meh stage. I actually thought that following up on Vince's loneliness was going to make for a good episode. I am still interested on whats going on with Ari and co, and I just hope they find a way to get the juices going.

I actually hope shit hits the fan with drama and turtle with the 5 towns setup. It'd be funny if they make the girlfriend a recurring role, and Turtle will be in an awkward position.
It has to be repeated, the agency stuff is gold. Cole is giving Ari a hell of a time, and it's fun as hell to watch.
Agreed. It's the only thing that gives this show any life.
i wish this show would just spin off into a strictly miller gold storyline. if you let that storyline breath you would have such a better show.

Man! That's what I was thinking, that or the 'kiss' ignites some sparks that drives a wedge between Turtle and Jamie. Maybe Drama enters his stalking mode for jamie and tries to win her? Either way.. it could go badly.

Who would vince side with???

Starting to like the setup, wish it would happen faster.

As always, loved miller gold but man is Piven getting chunkier.
Yeah, but Mrs. Ari is absolutely smokin'.
Truth.

I liked the background reaction to Drama not getting wood during the auditions and the Ari stuff but that's about it. E's pubescent girlfriend creeps me out.

Yeah, I didn't buy she had her own business and 3 years ago was managing a supermarket (or grocery store or whatever). I figure 3 years ago she was in Junior High.

Ahh Tambor.

Hmm I really hope this season is building to something. Some plot development, and I was actually happy to see not all problems fix themselves.

oh and E has issues. I wonder if the Crystal Skull girl is gonna get pissed. E and Sloan will probably be back together at the end of the season, along with him on the way of becoming a huge rep.

Turtle I guess will graduate and start his business.

Drama will probably be doing his TV show. I just know that Turtle's girlfriend will probably mess things up with Turtle.

Ari will break up with his wife and try to win her back.

Vince will be all alone and takes to drugs and starts his downward public spiral. Give them a reason to use that fat suit again. Season 7 will be them fixing things. Season 8 they all get married and go into space.
Last night's episode was the first one this season where I actually laughed as opposed to simply smiled. And I laughed a few times.

Marky Mark busting Drama's chops was great, as was Tambor.

Only if they get lost in space and crash land on an alien world with cheap looking aliens.
I wish Tambor would show up slightly more. Not every few episodes or anything, but 2-3 times a season would be plenty.
Wasn't the alien larva girl the same actress that was Michael Cera's ex in Nick & Norah? Ugh. Creepy.
i have to wait for entourage to hit dvd before i can catch up, but i have to say, season 5 was fantastic, the best since season 2 i think. with that in mind, im excited for season 6.

hm...

oh well, can't be worse than season 4.

as long as it has plenty of E, and plenty of Ari, my interest remains

That was jarring alright.
Sunday's episode was really great. It was really short too. I'm digging what they're doing with the show, I like vince as the 5th wheel for once. He's not the center of attention and just going with the flow and things are working out quite well for him that way. I did like the reference that he earned 4 million for voicing a dog. Wasn't that what he was offered last year??

Yes... apparently Alien Larva Girlfriend was Michael Cera's high school (ex)girlfriend in Nick and Norah's infinite playlist, a movie that came out less then a year ago. I had it on in the background yesterday and she immediately caught my eye. Unrelated but .. one of the other girls in that movie plays the sister on Fringe.

E is so hung up on Sloan, but who wouldn't be!??!?!
I think last season they were offering him a live action role in the new Benji flick.

They were taking him to Alaska.
