Cool promo. You get a little glimpse of Raphael there, the Arch Angel Castiel is trying to capture in the ring of holy flame.

The cripple is an arch angel? I thought they were supposed to be all badass and stuff. Scared Lilith away and all that.

The cripple is his vessel. Empty, hollow at the moment that Dean and Cas attempt to summon him and trap him in holy fire... Unfortunately arch angel vessels suffer a very nasty comatose non existence when their arch angel isn't home... Notice later on in the clip you see the same cripple standing up, windows shattering, his energy barely contained in human form... Raph.

Supernatural in the Chud.com selling DVD's spot. Awesome!
I think they are going to use God as the Deux Machinas to turn the tide on this. Considering how outmatched Sam and Dean are, this is the only way I can see it turns out.

Love to see more about the Angels in Season 5. Big fan of the Prophecy films. Maybe the Archangel Raphael will be secretly helping Castiel and our heroes. He is in charge of healing after all.

I'm going out of my fucking mind waiting for new episodes. I just saw a Psyche episode with Bobby...

Tempted to get the Blu-ray but... I have the previous seasons in DVD Format.. so I'm kinda holding out for maybe a complete series Blu-Ray dealio. I'd like blooper reels, I heard Welling popped up on set a few times during the first season as he was buddies with Ackles (or both?) I geek out at shit like that.
Well at least we don't have to much longer to wait.
Just rewatched the tail end of S4 and I'm pretty pumped for the new episodes. Now that Lucifer's risen, I hope the show reflects that insanity by not having the A plot drift into the background. I know the show's always been episodic throughout its run but the S4 finale had an urgency missing from previous season enders.
I'm psyched for season 5. For the build up I've been going back through season 3 on dvd and it's been a pretty sweet ride so far. I'm hoping to dive back into season 4 again soon too. Mystery Spot gave me shades of Dean doing Eye of the Tiger with him rocking out to Asia multiple times.
Been going through the entire Season 4 in the last few days. Alastair has a line in "Death takes a Holiday" about Death not riding really riding a pale horse "but he does have three amigos." A smart ass remark or do you think we might actually see some kind of personification of the Four Horsemen at some point this season?
I don't see why not, they had the seven deadly sins at the beginning of season 3.

I'm guessing they'll be bikers.

I read an article that said they would be dudes in muscle cars or something but I can't remember where I read it.
Does this mean the show will shell out the cash for Metallica's "Four Horsemen"? Although I'd personally prefer if they used the Clash's "Four Horsemen".

Well now, I know what I've got planned for tonight. I'm really looking forward to seeing what else is in store with this show. I might even take a peek at that new vampire show, but only to see what Boone has gotten himself up to.
You're a braver man than I am, Rich.

Looking forward to tonight. Mark Pelligrino was great on Dexter and it'll be interesting to see how he's used.
I'm not sure I want to watch it tonight. I'm not sure I could handle watching an hour then having to wait 7 more days to see what happens next. I know I won't be satisified with the first hour, it will have a huge cliffhanger or end with something that has to carry over into next week.

Damn you CW for not giving Supernatural a very special 2 hours season premier! You gave it to Smallville each year on a Thursday!

By the way, if CW cancels the vampire show, I hope they have the boys do a promo of killin it off. That would be sweet.

ETA with a music track of Cry Little Sister by Gerard Mcmann playing in the background... yeah... lost boys throwback WHAAAAT.

Steelers are playing tonight, so I'll be late to the "Supernatural" discussion.

...I know you're all devastated. Shut up!

I'll try not to cry into my whiskey. It'll be hard, but I'll summon the strength.
Mad stoked for this tonight. Misha Collin was interviewed in my local tabloid rag. If it can be trusted, this season's more focused on the A-plot. This makes me happy.

Hey! Lookin' for a salt-packed shotgun round to the gob, pal?

Not today. Check back with me on that, though. Another week like the last few and I just might take you up on it. Enjoy the game!
Yeah excited like everyone else. Love the episode by the way, shame they can't afford the song to go with it. Hell it would probably take their entire budget to pull that off. That would be one hell of an opening though!
Haha. I actually saw this when I logged into twitter this morning. #luciferiscoming was second in trending topics and #GodIsHere was third. Apparently a bunch of bible-thumpers just assumed satanists were taking over twitter. Guess they won't be watching the show tonight.
Very good opener. I'm not quite sure what's up with Dean's attitude. I suppose its a natural reaction to the angels, who are indeed dicks. Makes the Fall of Lucifer seem almost inevitable. Biblically speaking, that is.

Still, the parallel between Dean/Michael and Jacob/Lucifer was nice.
Surprised no one's commented yet. I thought it was a good start to the season. The best thing in the episode had to be Lucifer's justification for his war (or at least what he's telling his vessel to be). Cloaking his fight with God in terms of "justice" is just the type of slightly new spin on the whole apocalypse thing I was hoping to see from the show. And the vessel character (I guess maybe we should call him Jacob?) seems like serious actor material.

Bad? The demon fighting was typical brute knuckle fighting, which makes sense in the mythos of the show, but I hope it's not a sign that a lack of budget is going limit what the show can show in Angel/Demon/Winchest brutality. Also, I did detect a whiff of wheel-spinning in the episode. Maybe it's just me. But overall my impression is positive and there WAS some juicy plot development.

Potential nerd nitpick/question: Bobby stabbed himself with Ruby's knife and lived. Don't you have to make a stab wound lethal to kill demons with Ruby's knife?

EDIT: Just saw your post Zeus

The actor who played Jacob on lost is named mark and his character is scripted as nick. Watched this at Lunch today, cheered like an idiot at thunderstruck. It's completely surreal to have dean on one side and bobby on the other, both in costume watching themselves.
Ah fuck, I was working I'm gonna have to wait till next week to check it out.

I think the stab killed the demon but Bobby lived because no weapon on earth can kill Bobby Singer.
And another reference/joke about Wincest/fanatics. Can't wait to see the backlash on that.

Yeah, I think it depends on the area, most of the past kills with the knife have been head, throat or heart stabs.
There was the demon - I think it was one of the seven deadly sins - that got stabbed through the chin Timothy Dalton style. So, I don't think it has to be a fatal wound.

Strong opening. Love the new title card. I really dug the polar opposite ways that Lucifer and the angels approached getting "consent" from their vessels. Zachariah is really becoming that bad guy you love to hate. Also nice to see Meg again.

I actually watched it with a /ficcer at the time. She's a grown up and has a sense of humor about the whole thing, but she was a little worried about the community response...

It would have hit the brain.
Sorry, I didn't realize the brain was located in your chin.
It's like what an 8 or 9 inch blade though, I think that would be able to hit the brain. But, even if it doesn't, it's still a lethal blow.
Not according to Hot Fuzz, and I believe everything The Movies tell me. But I guess I'll take your word for it.
Fantastic opening! Things to love: Dean schooling Zach at Chuck's place, Dean's quips ("cram it with walnuts, ugly!"), the triumphant return of Cas, prophet Chuck, marzipan, slash fiction fan, slash fiction fan thinking Dean didn't live up to her expectations, slash fiction fan's meta joke about mixing up the mythology, Bobby stabbing himself to save Dean, the parallel between Nick/Lucifer and Dean/Zach, the AWESOME new title card, the kickass opening montage, Dean and Sam going on a journey of forgiveness.

Looooooved it

/ficcer? Hee...I've not seen it written that way before. Must be b/c CHUD is mostly straight dudes and not crazy fangirls writing all sorts of porn, heh.

Most fangirls laugh it off with a side of facepalming for the badfic being mocked. If there is wank, it's from the badfic writers. I find it funny myself.
Did you look at any of the "fan" responses to Monster at the end of the Book? Yeah, it got pretty crazy, and I do mean crazy.

The more fanatical do not have a sense of humor.

That's because I just made that up. I hope it sticks, then I'll have some claim to internet fame. It's not like my comics on slash fic went anywhere.

For the record I know nothing about fan reactions beyond what this one girl tells me.

For those who didn't see the episode, here's the classic(and possibly final) ACDC intro. I called it, Thunderstruck, but it was still incredibly fucking cool to see. Also, best title card yet, and some of the first scene.

Part of me misses Hell's Bells. The other part of me doesn't give a shit. That was cool.

Good episode, getting things in motion. And hey! Fanfic girl was the other sister from Ginger Snaps. Cool.

And I feel I must post with, what with all the talk of Michael.

Badass of the Week: St. Michael the Archangel.

"Michael doesn't just whip Lucifer's ass, he completely fucking humiliates him by slamming him face-first to the turf and then stepping on his head for no reason other than to be a jackass. I mean, Michael has huge-ass wings so he doesn't even need to set foot on the ground for any reason, but he's badass enough to know that when you're jacking the Prince of Darkness' shit up royally for fucking with your boss, you might as well get your digs in there and add to the humiliation of his defeat. In case you didn't notice, Michael's not even breaking a sweat here either. He's just that hardcore."

That transition into Yosemite Sam was fucking beautiful
post #98 of 783
I wonder if Castiel got a power upgrade in his "rebirth"? He handled those Angel goons fairly easily.
I think one of the likely possibilities is that Cas is now getting his orders from the boss. Helping Dean escape the green room proved his commitment to the greater good, so God has brought him into his trust- that would also explain Cas' reluctance to provide any answers on his "rebirth".

The boys have been around this wheel of guilt and mistrust a bunch of times. When Sam asks Dean what he can do, I was really hoping Dean would just say, "Spend every minute trying to win my trust back.". Hopefully Dean's comments don't put Sam into another spiral of mopey bad-choice-o-rama.

Well, I watched the Pittsburgh game (Go Steelers!) and then couldn't resist firing up the season premier on my DVR. Holy Hell, that was awesome. Quick and Disorganized Thoughts:

1. The "Thunderstruck" opening actually got the adrenalin coursing (that may be pathetic, by the way).

2. New title card? Rad. The best yet.

3. You'd think all hunters--much less the Beav himself--would get those anti-possession tattoos as a matter of course. Hmmmmm.

4. Was it just me or did Meg 2.0 have a vaguely distracting speech impediment?

5. Cas's return was killer (no pun intended)... oh, Felix, yeah, it seemed like he may have a power upgrade. Then again, he also had Uriel's angel killing sword thingie.

6. The crazy slash fic chick's reaction to Dean was great.

7. Chuck had a molar in his hair. Ha.

8. Best line? "I've got a G.E.D. and a give'em hell attitude."

9. My one potential issue: I think this season needs to be about Sam and Dean as brothers against the world again. So, I'm hoping this won't be another season of simmering resentment and suspicions. Been there, done that. Move on.
