This full length anime movie was released on DVD a couple of weeks ago and easily worth the purchase.

Sword of the Stranger is an excellent addition to a short list of anime action movies worthy of owning. Yes there is your standard wandering samurai. Your typical foreigner warrior in Japan who only lives to fight a person who is worth of a battle. And you've got a stubborn kid and a dog.

Those are some typical stock characters, but the way the story unfolds over some beautifully painted landscapes and the tremendous brutally graphic violence makes for a Quentin Tarrintino-esqe anime film that just plain works. Even the CGI used in the film doesnt take away from the traditional 2-D animation.

Bones is the animation company that put this together and Bandai distributed the DVD release.

I'm telling you, this is an awesome flick.
